According to the Enquirer and DDN, the first two games of the Phillies series attracted 72,315 fans. Friday's game included 9,442 walk-up ticket sales. Then on Saturday, 10,080 walk-up tickets turned that game into the second sellout of the year. So over the past two days, 19,522 walk-up tickets have been sold.

Thanks to Josh Hamilton. I know if I were still living there, I'd be more likely to go to the park right now just to see Hamilton.

The Reds team of course rewards the fans by spitting the bit and going 2-5 on the homestand.

To make it worse, if any 2-5 stretch could be worse than another, this was an UGLY 2-5.

Reds fans got rewarded by seeing the improved defense make 13 errors this homestand along with hitting 9 batters.

Mother nature did her part too.... too bad the Reds didn't do their's. It was a rough homestand in general.

Does it really matter though if they came for the gimmick or to see Josh?

The point is, they came to the park. The Reds have much better fan support than they deserve.

The Reds had a great weekend considering the Phils really aren't a big draw and they are playing mediocre.

For 10,000, 20,000, and 10,000 fans in each respective game. That certainly wouldn't have made me clamor to the park.

While there were errors, they were mostly throwing errors. There were some very exciting defensive plays on Saturday and Sunday. That's not going to draw people back or get much press, but it was nice to see playing be made that were usually screwed up in the past.

But back to the topic: My father and I were dumbfounded on Saturday that so many people showed up. Apparently a fleece blanket in April is a huge draw? We normally show up 2 hours early to eat at the Machine Room and watch BP and the place is dead. There were a bunch of people at the stadium and the machine room was packed when we got there saturday.
