Priceless.

Granted the batter who chased the pitcher shouldn't have done it, but there's no shortage of racist subtext in that clip. :thumbdown

Where, in the audio? I didn't listen to it.

The voiceover is all in Japanese. The circus-like music is what did it for me.

Their team mascot was my avatar on here for several months...When checking into Japanese baseball I always followed the Carp because they had the same uni as the Reds.

An ex-girlfriend of mine is from Hiroshima, home of the Carp. As some may have noticed, translations done from Japanese to English by a Japanese translator often fall short on accuracy. Anyways, she told me that for many years, the Hiroshima team uniform said, "Carps". That is, until someone finally pointed it out to the team that a written pluralizing of "Carp" was unnecessary & incorrect. I do not recall how many years the Carp played w/ the incorrect spelling on their uniforms, and other official gear, but I do remember her telling the story with much amusement.

Take this with a grain of salt because I have no clue what I'm talking about...but I would guess the circus music was added by a Japanese production company and appears to have a Japanese audience laughing, i.e. the Super Terrific Happy Hour on Seinfeld :D

This is actually mentioned in such high literature as the book "Hiroshima" by John Hersey.

It is rather interesting that last years Reds Road hat is being sold as a carp hat now. Same exact hat, made by New Era. Talk about milking your inventory of hats eh?

The Reds should work out some cross-over marketing deal with the Carp.

or sue them. I noticed this many years ago and always wondered why the Reds allowed it.

I'm only being silly. :help:

We did threaten to sue them. We also offered to look the other way if they took John Bale off our hands.

Problem solved.

Bale is a popular pitcher in Hiroshima; they absolutely love him!
