He should get alot of slack because quite frankly there are not better options at this level.

It has nothing to do with that AB. Take that AB out of it.

Coming into this game, he was hitting .121 and he is starting. He's a bad fielder too.

Edwin was hitting .221, had 75 RBIs in limited playing time last year, is our ONLY right handed threat, and oh yeah is actually 2 years younger the Kouz.

His biggest issue is that he failed to recognize that this team had zero shot this season. So all he did was blow millions on Gonzalez and a bunch of overage stiffs to finish in last place.

Then next season, we'll hear how the market is out of control for pitching and he'll be busy signing Jose Mesa and other AARP all-stars.

Yea, Gonzalez who has shored up the defense up the middle and has hit above expectations. Who would you suggest play SS this year if they had not acquired Gonzalez? If the answer is Phillips, who would you suggest play 2B for the next few years until Valiaka is ready?

You don't trade a 24 year old in a fire sale.

That's the opposite of a fire sale. You do a fire sale to get younger, and more talent.

You do a fire sale to get players similar to Edwin, but who normally don't have ML exp.

just a question....in order to have a fire sale, don't ya have to have something that's flammable?

They have two commodities guaranteed to bring something nice back in return: Harang and Arroyo....

They have 1 guy in Dunn that might be marketable depeding upon how the season progresses for him and others...

They have a youngster in EE that might net [I]something[/I good but I'm pretty sure the return wouldn't be equal to the 4 more cheap seasons he'd likely give you....

The rest of the bunch is pretty untradeable for various reasons...
Exactly as I have been saying.
If people think we will trade the Stanton's ,Sarloos', Loshe's , etc and get difference makers back.....I think are going to be badly fooled.

I agree with jojo on this one. It's up to the outfielder to learn the field. As he said, that's why you have fielding/batting practice. 'In the old days' may be a trite phrase but that's what those times were used for---to learn the intricacies of the field.

Someone said earlier in this thread that the Reds don't take fielding practice anymore. Is that true? If so, someone upstairs should be kicking Narron's butt all the way back to Cincinnati.

Im just about ready to withdraw my support of Jerry Narron. Seriously. Doesnt he need to show his team that he would try to win a game with more effort than leaving Belisle out there to get knocked around?

Gonzalez breaks his bat and grounds out to short. 1 out.

If broken bats were nickels, Castellini could buy a real team.

Maddux must be just cracking up inside. Of course he is a future hall of famer but he is not that great of a pitcher anymore and he knows it. He is just fooling around with these hitters right now.

I'm glad that I decided not to drive to SD to see this game....unless Maddux pitches a no-no. I've never seen one in person

I would rather him not pitch for the 23rd time in the first 39 games.
Instead I would let guys like Burton and Coutlangous get some work in.
Look...I just wish people would stop using the # of times Coffey has pitched.
Yes....it is a good amount but not much different than several other relievers in MLB.
Fact is...he hasnt done the job and needs time in Triple A.

Ah... I see that Mr. Belisle is regressing to mean now, following Mr. Lohse. If this rotation puts away its smoke and mirrors, we could be looking at a 100-loss season, ladies and gents.
