This may have been addressed in the game threads from the last 2 nights, but I don't have 10 hours to filter through them, but anyway, what's the deal with the #'s that were in the back of the pitchers mound the last 2 games? I've never seen that before.

I think maybe the Padres put the pitchers # in there.(?)
Or was Tom Browning out there with spray paint? Perhaps George and Chris said something about it and I missed it.

I noticed them too. Last night was 44, the night before was 30. Peavy's number is 44, but is Maddux's 30? I didn't think it was...

Just looked it up. Maddux is #30.

They had Peavy's 44 last night, Well's 33, and Maddux's 30 all etched in the back of the mound. I'd say that's more than coincidence...

You're probably right. Just like it's no coincidence that there are 24 hours in a day and 24 beers in a case. ;)

Does Steven Wright know you are stealing his material? :) Good one though!

^need to revisit the math on that one though, yes, 24 beers in a case, and 24 hours in a day, but there are only 12 ounces in a can, so to make it all even, need 2 cans per hour for the day, to keep it all a pretty 24 all the way around :)

Then you'd be drinking 48 beers in a day though. Throws the math off a little bit.

Lets start a revolution!!!! Have you seen anything about the grassroots campaign going on, calling for a 5 day weekend? They are based out of Asheville NC, and held a rally in Raleigh last week. Great idea!!!! :)

The Padres ground crew puts the number of the starting pitcher on the mound before every game.

According to our friends in St. Louis...

Is that so the wrong Padre doesn't take the mound? :dunno:

They don't want to get caught pitching out of order.

If I'm an opposing pitcher I go behind the mound and do a little gardening and erase it...

I was so wanting arroyo to go out there between innings and dig a " <61" next to Peavy's 44.

Yeah, good thing they don't have to change it once the starter leaves. Then they'd have to keep changing the #'s because they'd be bringing in the whole bullpen to get an out.

Maybe work into Narron's contract that every time he has to take a pitcher out , he changes it, since he's there already. Perhaps a popsicle stick would work well, from his back pocket. (Just no emry boards *see Joe Neikro)
