I think he's going to have a lot of adrenaline flowing, and he's already a bit wild. Hughes had a rough first start for the Yankees, and I expect the same from Homer.

Game gets rained out - Bailey doesn't pitch and doesn't get added to the roster ;)

Lookin nasty for the moment - I'm sure it will clear up by game time.

I think that's the line of storms that hit north of KC yesterday. They were fairly intense, but extremely short.

The NWS forecast has showers hitting Dayton between 1 and 4pm.

That's pretty small area.

JF - did you get some nasty weather? I heard some tornadoes were in Southern Iowa.

I'll wager my guess:

I'm counting on just a so-so start. He won't dominate, but he won't self destruct, either.

That code things still confuses me. I need a tutorial.

Anyway:

5.2 ip, 6 hits, 4 bb, 5 k, 4 er. Reds lose 6-1

5 1/2 innings 7 hits 4 runs all earned, 4 walks 5 k's.

I won't predict a pitching line but I hope he goes 0-4 at the plate. That means he has pitched an effective game win or lose. That's all I'm looking for out of Bailey,an effective performance to build upon.

Cleveland is a very good offensive club, and they'll be stoked for the ballyhooed rookie. Homer's going to be way amped and will have trouble getting ahead in the count.

First he parts the Ohio river and leads the entire crowd into the stadium. Next he takes the mound, sans warm up and proceeds to make the Indians into the baseball equivelent of American Motors Corporation. He not only becomes the most prolific home run hitter of all times (instantly starting whispers of breaking Arrons home run record) but wows and amazes the crowd with his ability to sing better than Bucra and The Newbies combined. Bronson Arroyo becomes his gituar tech.

After curing cancer during the 7th inning strech, he unravels the whole "world peace" issue by his next start.

Give or take.

I think Homer has the chance to be the best starting pitcher many of us have seen this system produce in our lifetimes. However, I don't like the manner, timing or matchup of his first designated start. I think the Indians are exactly the type of team that will really make him pay a heavy price for his mistakes (though having a guy like Garko - or hopefully Hafner sitting as a DH could really help the cause a lot). Here's hoping I'm wrong and that he cruises to a 5-6IP 3 Hit 6K 2BB 2ER type of performance I expect out of him as the season progresses.

Personally, if he had to be at this level as of 6/8/07, the line I'd prefer to have seen would be 1+IP 0 Hit 2K 1BB, out of the bullpen. Oh well.

As much as I anticipate Bailey to not be able to locate his curve or change for unhittable strikes, he'll be in the zone but very hittable while relying heavily on his fastball.

Cleveland's gonna knock him around.

Jim Coombs hasn't been called up yet. It was merely Homer Bailey.

Has anyone given Bob C. the memo on Coombs?

I'm going to amend my expectations upwards, because I'm very relieved that Homer will not have to face Peralta, in addition to the sitting Garko. This is not the Indians "A" lineup, which is a great bonus in my opinion. Hopefully he doesn't struggle with command, as he can cruise more easily if he can get past that top portion of the lineup.

I'm thinking that maybe we get 5+IP 5 Hits 3BB 5K 4ER from the kid, and I'm hoping for even better. It's hard not to be excited, even if you aren't thrilled with the Reds' procedures in bringing him up. If handled properly, he's going to be a very special ball player.

I'd like to file a protest:

First of all the thread called for the following to be forecast:

IP H R ER BB SO
Homer's Line: 5 5 2 2 4 3
My line 5 3 2 2 4 5
FCB 5 ?? 2 2 5 5

Where was the hit prediction?

For the record he threw 114 pitches

But you can keep your cigar. I don't smoke...

Okay, I'm sorry, I didn't make it back as far as your's. As for the pitch count, elsewhere others have noted four pitches (or three) were an intentional walk. Well done, nonetheless, Searay.

On the strength of actually listing a prediction for hits, I declare Sea Ray the winner with FCB a close second.
