If that was Barfield he would have been safe(maybe!), that was Jason Michaels.

That was incredible. The runner was safe, and Ross needs to learn to grow some and block the plate. Still, Josh Hamilton is simply amazing.

According to the radio he was out by a good margin.

And he can do it with the bat

The ball obviously beat him but Ross didn't block the plate at all. 9 times out of 10 the defense will get that call but technically he was out by my eyes.

The radio doesn't have eyes. I thought he was out by a mile too until Mitri said he was safe. He was safe. I just watched it about 8 times in slow motion on my DVR and he was safe by a fraction of a second. The throw was fantastic and easily beat the runner home. However, Ross did a horrendous job of blocking the plate on that one. Inexcusable. The Reds got a break.

Marty and JB do have eyes..the radio doesn't do the speaking.

I'm not disagreeing with you, i'm just saying what I hear. They musta seen something else.

Plus, I'm watcing the Indians broadcast and maybe they showed an angle that you all didn't see. We got a break, need one. Really nice win and good series overall. Season split with a solid Cleveland team, not bad.

I'm watching the Cleveland broadcast as well, Mitri. They're HUGE homers. I saw it several times from their replays and I honestly believe Ross beat Michaels' foot with the tag by a split-second.

They saw what I saw the first time. He looked out in normal speed from that view of behind the plate. But, from the first base side view, you can see how he just beat Ross' tag.

Much-needed good break for the Reds.

He got it!

The importance of the two plays can't be compared but I still think his throw to double off the runner at first Thursday night was more impressive. An absolute seed fired to first while falling off to the third base side off the field. I would say that Josh is our best ourfield arm since Reggie Sanders. Some of you may say Kearns, but I always thought his arm was overrated. When he would let it rip it was on a line but it seemed like it took him forever to load up that gun and get the ball out of his hand.

The teams played 23 innings in fewer than 24 hours.....those boys earned their day off tomorrow!

is there video of the throw anywhere? I was working and heard it on the radio, figured I'd find it on cincinnatireds.com, but they didn't have that play.

He should be our closerThat is an interesting point to say the least. Austin Kearns was a pitcher before he was converted to an outfielder and also had a cannon for an arm in the outfield. It would be like the inverse of Rick Ankiel if such a transformation occurred.

Very true but the lack of hitting is becoming alarming.
