Cueto has more problems in the first inning lately than about any pitcher in the Reds system.

The run against Johnny scored on an error. It's being listed as an earned run on his record, though.

It will be interesting to see if they let him go out for the 7th and try to get the CG.

Does that count as an actual CG? Thats an easy CG if it is

Yeah.... why wouldn't it?
Yeah.... why wouldn't it?
Agreed...MLB pitchers get complete games all the time and only throwing 8 innings.

The real Johnny Cueto has arrived, folks. That's four straight very good starts by Mr. Cueto. I'd like to see him get bumped to Chattanooga after the All-Star break.

Jay Bruce doubles in his first atbat of the second game. That's 25 doubles already for Jay. He's now got 40 XBH (25 doubles, 5 triples, 10 homers) in 254 atbats, or one per 6.35 atbats. That is unreal, especially for a 20-year old kid in the FSL.

Sarasotas second game has started and Bruce hit his 25th double of the season.

He's 2-for-2 with two doubles.

Nice to see Bruce picking it up. He had cooled off in June.

Dayton won 3-0. Everyday Eddie with the save.
Jordan Smith went 8 innings, giving up 3 hits, no walks, and 2 K's.
Stubbs, 1 for 3, with 1 bb and 1 K. Also had his 14th stolen base of the year.
Francisco, Parker, and Cabrera with doubles.

FYI, he will go back to back and pitch in Louisville tomorrow. It sounds like he is getting close, and I am not going to lie, I am more scared then excited about that.
Also, Francisco make his 18th error tonight.

The real Johnny Cueto will be a quality setup man for the Reds closer in 2-3 years. He and Watson are bullpen-ready arms.

It would be horrible to move guys with that potential to the pen. Simply a waste. With Homer no longer being a prospect, Cueto and Watson are the best pitching prospects we have.
And considering Watson was a college reliever who the Reds have just converted to a starting pitcher, I don't see him going back anytime soon.

Cueto and Watson have starter stuff, it makes no sense to move them to the bullpen. Both will be starters with the Reds within three years IMO.

Watson and Cueto should remain in the rotation as long as they are effective.
If they struggle for a couple of seasons in this role, then a switch should be considered. Making them into starters should be the primary objective. Bullpen is plan B.

Cueto and Watson will pitch where they are needed. If Fisher and Lecure are ahead of them on the depth chart FWIW.
