I still pinch myself when I think of Tom Seaver pitching for the Reds - and for 5 years!

I can remember watching that game. Everyone was on pins and needles wondering if that trade was going to happen. The Reds made several other trades to that night. These are courtesy of Retrosheet. The biggest mistake was trading Mike Caldwell. He turned out to be a very good pitcher for the Brewers and could have put the Reds over the top in 1978.

California Angels traded Craig Hendrickson to Cincinnati Reds in exchange for Gary
Nolan.

St. Louis Cardinals traded Doug Capilla to Cincinnati Reds in exchange for Rawly
Eastwick.

Milwaukee Brewers traded Dick O'Keefe and Garry Pyka to Cincinnati Reds in exchange
for Mike Caldwell.

Texas Rangers sold Rick Auerbach to Cincinnati Reds.

Mike Scott, who was a Red killer, pitched that shutout and had 14 K's.
