Gonzo must be all straight heat and little else though have the arm, we can deal with the rest. Same with Webb, though he is a lefty which helps on the strikeout side this low.

Pelland is falling apart again. To bad, he was showing such potential. If I was Krivsky, I would deal him as a throw in.

The Chattanooga box score finally updated and they now have a 5-4 lead after 7 innings.

Wasn't Gonzo supposed to be up there with Homer as far as raw stuff? 95-96 with a hammer curve? Nice to see that he is figuring it out, his walk totals were horrendous in his first few years. I would like to see him pick up his strikeouts though.

I still don't see much to like in Gonzo's numbers. He's throwing it over the plate finally, but he's not missing many bats and giving up lots of longballs. I'm really not sure why this is considering the quality of his stuff. Maybe he's just throwing heat or something.

I had hopes for Pelland. I guess I was wrong there. I wonder if the mid-season move from regular routine to frequent ups and downs in the pen has affected his arm. He seemed awesome to start with, but he's been hit a lot.

I've seen two or three posts in this thread referring to Gonzo as if something bad happened. Yet I see this line:

Raf. Gonzalez: 7 Innings, 4 Hits, 0 Runs, 1 BB, 3 K

What am I missing? Is it the low K number? He has some bad peripherals right now (K's HR's) but weren't most of those from early in the year. He seems to have taken a step forward in the last 6 weeks or so. Maybe I'm not remembering correctly.

I wasn't talking about his last start specifically. Just saying that I don't think he's really breaking out the way a lot of people seem to think he is.

SD, his WHIP is much lower than it has ever been before. His HR rate is very scary, but outside of that there is nothing in his stats that I see to be worried about.

Votto in LF back to back nights.

Your obsession with Votto and left field is disturbing.

The Reds thing about playing the best 1B prospect in baseball in LF is even more disturbing.

I don't think so. I think it's pretty relevant to what's going on in the organization. Votto might be the LF in Cincinnati before too long.

I don't agree. He isn't any good in LF, hence, why get hyper over a organizational quirk?

For this guy to be playing LF as much as he is, it is highly relevant. Dunn will be gone before long and Votto will be playing LF in Cincy after the deadline.

Then, depending on whether or not WK can exhume another corpse from the 1B graveyard, Votto will be playing LF or 1B next season with the big club.
