Kyle Loshe is a better pitcher then Bobby Livingston. There is no doubt in my mind. Now the Reds still need to trade Loshe by the deadline because he is a free agent, but until then he's a better option then both Livingston and Dumatrait. There's really no point in booting him from the rotation now. Let him make his starts, hopefully hit one of his hot streaks, then deal him for whatever you can get. Somebody will want him.

That may be...but he isn't pitching like one.

Maybe not even Livingston, maybe Dumatrait.....I'd rather see if these guys have a future on this team than keep running a guy out there who doesn't.

If they can trade him, for anything, they have to do it....however, does anybody want him? If he were a lefty, a team may bite, but being a righty who struggles to get people out isn't exactly a very appealing piece of pie.

Somebody will fall in love with him because of his stuff and they'll trade for him. If we can't deal him off by the deadline, then I would go to your thinking and try Livingston and Dumatrait because Loshe won't be here next year. A team like the Cardinals who thinks they can contend and desperatley need a starter I have to think would have interests. The Cubs could look at him as a bullpen guy.

I keep running Loshe out there until the 31st.

Totally agree. If Lohse can give us a couple of good starts we might be able to get something decent back for him. If the Tigers were able to trade Maroth when everyone knew they had to trade him I would think Lohse (who has more potential) would be able to attract some interest. I'm sure there are some pitching coaches that admire his abilities and think they can turn him into a reliable #3 starter.

Yeah, he's been roughed up both starts. His line looks like this:

9.2 IP, 11 H, 9 ER, 5 BB, 6 K

The most alarming thing is his K/BB ratio. In Dayton he struck out 85 while only walking 13. Obviously, that has changed in Sarasota.

You are totally correct...it is only 2 starts. But look at some of the comments back when Watson was the next Homer. Whenever someone said he was playing in Low A, it was shot down like some ridiculous notion.

Watson is where he should minimally be. And we'll see what happens. Hopefully this is only an adjustment period.

I'm not overly concerned though, it's only two starts.

I've wondered for a while how many strikeouts he got in Low-A ball due simply to the fact that nobody down there has probably ever seen a Knuckle Curve before.

I'm not going to panic yet, though.

Knuckle curves don't do anything different than a regular curve does. Spins the same way and breaks the same way. It is just the fact that the pitcher tucks his index fingernail down on the ball so his "highest/top" knuckle is pressed against the ball. It sometimes causes a sharper break, but I think it is more of a way for a guy to keep the pressure on the middle finger.

It's so funny listening to Reds fans talk about our prospects. Mesoraco is off to a bad start after nine atbats. Sean Watson has two bad outings and we're ready to write him off. Carlos Fisher has a string of 10 bad innings, but of course those ten innings are more telling than his previous 80+ innings of roughly 1.50 ERA ball. I know the Reds have stunk for a while, but you don't have to always assume the worst. :)
