Only time will tell. Last off season our best signing was a broadcaster, so you can't do much worse.

Having heard said broadcaster for a half season as a Reds radio personality, I'd have to say they botched that signing too.

I have no problem with it right now.

The other one was my biggest issue.

They signed 2 actually....

And I would call them both great signings.

I don't either. It's been my opinion that Castellini was looking to give stability to these positions. In the "I want it now" society we live in, not getting the job done immediately causes folks to want to toss management overboard. It's still way to early to know whether WK's a good GM or not. I still like where the organization is, even with the current team's abysmal record.

Now that would improve the broadcasts

The words:

"I think success breeds success," Castellini said Wednesday afternoon. "We're happy with the direction that we're going. We're very happy with Jerry's performance and Wayne's performance. It was an opportunity to show our appreciation with how much we thought of these two fellows."

The facts:

At the time of the extension, the Reds were 41-36 .532
Since the extension they have gone 69-94 .423 (163 games)

This season they're 30-48 .385

You would say that if they hired Andy Furman and SegMan to call PBP. ;)

I haven't heard Brantley. As for Thom, he can go back to Arizona anytime as far as I'm concerned. :)

Brantley is really growing on me; I really enjoy listening to him. The man knows pitching, inside and out, and he does an excellent job of describing it to the listener.

I like both Marty and Thom, except for when they're together; when they're together it becomes a whining *****fest, with Thom egging Marty on. Almost like a negative group consciousness thing.
