According to Ken Rosenthal, the Red Sox are the winner of the Eric Gagne sweepstakes pending Gagne's consent and a review of medical records. Rosenthal says Gagne might share the closer role with Jonathan Papelbon; it would not be shocking to see Papelbon become the setup man for the rest of the year. That would be a hell of a 1-2 punch regardless and a huge asset for the playoffs.

No word on which prospects went to Texas yet.

From a purely selfish point of view, I hope this doesn't happen. Papelbon is my closer on my fantasy team.

From a realistic view, the Sox will be hard to beat with a healthy Gagne in that bullpen.

Looks like Gagne might go to the Red Sox, possibly for Kason Gabbard and David Murphy. Apparently the Sox are waiting to see if Gagne will waive his no-trade clause,

Pappelbon, Gagne.

I'm sure the Yankees love that.

I can't see why Gagne wouldn't waive his no-trade for a chance at a ring.

With this deal, the Red Sox just shortened their games by 2 or 3 innings (if they're winning, of course).

I can't see why Gagne wouldn't waive his no-trade once they guarantee his incentives.
Fixed that for you. Hey, Scott Boras is in charge now, you know.

Apparently, Gagne is going to waive his no trade clause and join Boston...
