View Full Version : Braves Offering Reyes for Arroyo

The Braves are making a push to get one of the better starting pitchers available. They're willing to give up pitching prospect Jo-Jo Reyes to get Bronson Arroyo. My guess is that Reyes alone would not be enough; the Braves might have to dip into the farm system and pull out another prospect.

If you're a Braves fan, you're really have to admire John Schuerholz's willingness to go for broke. Maybe he's found a market inefficiency in teams overvaluing prospects.

Not sure if I would do it for just Jo-jo.

I wouldn't. Throw in Yunel Escobar and I would call it a deal. However, the Braves would probably be reluctant to do that because they traded Elvis Andrus to the Rangers.

the braves seem to be going for it all this year, if they add in a top 'spect or two, as much as i love bronson, i'm probably down for the trade. make them overpay in a weak starters market

just now on ESPN Amy Nelson told the guys on Baseball Tonight that Krivsky told Arroyo he wont be traded

This is from Fay. Would you all do Reyes and Escobar for Arroyo? I would.

Deadline nearer still

The other name I heard in the Braves-Bronson Arroyo talk was Yunel Escobar, the highly rated shortstop. He was Atlanta's second-round pick in 2005. He's a Cuban defector

they said on baseball tonight that arroyo had a meeting with krivsky, and told him he didn't want to be traded, and krivsky said he wouldn't be.

To be honest, im soso on this trade but i kind of want some changes. I like arroyo but i think we need to fully rebuild. Not just 1 or 2 players like in the past. It doesnt look like any of the big chips will be traded and that is pretty dissapointing. Hopefully something happens but time is running out.

Escobar is a stud alone, I would almost go excobar for arroyo alone.. but throw in jo-jo and as a 5th starter this trade fits well..

Thats just not true, he just isnt worth what krivsky wants. And in reply to your last post, what makes you think escobar is a stud. He has very little power and average speed at best. I like him but he may not be able to play shortstop because of his average range and he definately can't hit enough to play third. He is a 2nd baseman or a utility player. Hardly a stud unless he magically becomes fast or developes some real power.

he hits for average, and i promise his power will come around he will have seasons of 25 or 30 home runs..

The Braves have made a late push for Bronson Arroyo, including Yunel Escobar in the previous offer of Jo-Jo Reyes. The Reds will make a decision quickly and the Braves are said to have "two Plan Bs."

they better make a decision fast.. as much as I like Arroyo.. he is not a piece you build around.. soo if you are rebuilding you must deal him for younger players..

Im not sure what would lead you to such a promise, but if he does then i agree he would be a great pick up.

He is getting bigger, not only size wise, but also bat speed wise..

If for nothing else he can be a piece they hold until the off season and then deal in a package for rp..

He's also in alot of the current top 50 minor league players lists from the beginning of the season..

I'm making a last minute push. It looks like the Braves got Octavio Dotel for Kyle Davies. How about Mike Stanton, and Arroyo for Reyes, Escobar, and Dotel?

They arent goina trade for a guy then turn around and trade him. I wish the Reds coulda offered weathers for davies.

Dumatrait got pulled from his start tonight.

Arroyo may have been dealt.

Krivsky has repeatedly told Arroyo he will not trade him, and the trade deadline has passed. I would be very surprised if Bronson Arroyo was traded, reds44.

^The deadline has passed, but if the deal was agreed upon prior to the 4pm deadline and sent to the league office, then it can be announced after 4pm.

What a letdown today was. I was preparing to See Votto, Cantu, and Dumatrait.

I'm sorry, but I would NOT have liked a Weathers for Davies deal. The kid has a hard time throwing strikes and when he does throw them they get hit HARD. We just do not seem to have the coaching around to help straighten him out. I think I may've passed on that deal!
