Anybody think the minor league thread will "outperform" the Reds game thread again? Should we consult Mr. Rose on the odds?

I believe some of it has to do with who is pitching. Last night, Johnny was pitching and understandably people wanted to find out how he was doing. I think tonight people will be a little more curious about Dumatrait's debut with the big club.

I see more watching the Reds because of Dumatrait

Ah, good point, and I think you're exactly right. Although if the score is 7-0 Nats after 2...

That's true. Unfortunately, that may be the case again today but who knows?

The Bats squandered a 4-0 lead and are going into extra innings. Of course extras is only the 8th since it's a doubleheader, but it's still annoying.

Gutierrez and Jorgensen have RBI singles in the 8th, 6-4 LOU

Votto looks to be seething right now. I wonder if he was promised a callup in July if he the team had fallen out of contention? A article a few weeks back, Votto seemed to indicate something of that sort did happen in spring training. Since the all-star break, Votto has not hit well outside 2 games.

I suspect the player anger at the Reds is going through the chains.

Jorgensen has been doing good since he's been to Redszone. Maybe more players need to come here.

Or he could just be in a slump. It does happen.

Bats take game 1 6-4 in 8. Stone blew the save but gets the win, Majewski saves it. Bruce finished 1-4 with the solo HR.

It's the best part of REDSZONE.

Here's a fun website I noticed from DougDirt's sig:

Which just goes to show that Sep 1st is early enough for bringing him up.

Votto must have fallen into a trench in front of home plate to get thrown out on that one, according to gameday at least.

You cant trust gameday, the ball always shows up deeper then it was. It probably was a borderline tag chance and he took it.

Maybe a platoon with Votto at first? Maybe just have him be a utility guy.

Cantu hits righties better then lefties.

Well get him up here, let him drill righties for a month and a half and trade him for a #3 starter in the offseason. We need another starter and I don't like what I see in the free agent market.

It's not that easy, and what tells you he will mash anything?

I'd rather give him a chance and see if he does mash than watch Conine play.

Your right. But I'd like to see Cantu get some at bats somehow just to see if 2005 wasn't a complete fluke.

After hitting .310/.386/.434 in the GCL this season, the Reds promoted Justin Reed to Billings and he PH tonight and hit a 2-run HR in his first and only atbat for Billings. Not a bad way to start. Reed has really played well this season. He's got the ability to take a walk to go along with his great speed, making him someone worth watching IMO.

I am sure there will be many people suggest he play third base; It's not like we have an entrenched player there. Edwin has not made the most of his opportunities.
