Yes, Adam Dunn is a number, and that number is 13,000,000.

Worse than knowing your team wants to trade you is knowing your team tried to trade you and couldn't.

It's like being divorced but still living in the same house.

The trading deadline means everybody but the players gets to give up on the season.

Trevor Hoffman is upset that the Padres traded Scott Linebrink when they were only 1.5 games out. Maybe he'd rather play for Wayne Krivsky's "win-now" Reds.

Maybe we'd feel better about the rebuilding if we were the MustangsZone, the DragonsZone, the LookoutsZone and the BatsZone.

At this point maybe Arroyo would pitch better every 10th day.

These are the guys we wanted to see up here instead of those other bums.

Pete Mackanin has gone from a possible extension to day laborer.

I'd like to think of it as WK wouldn't give Dunn away, rather than to think he couldn't trade him.

That's a good point. In hind sight are you glad Narron was canned? Did it serve any purpose?

I think it had small benefits but it was only marginally "worth it".

The fact that the team did pep up immediately afterward showed that one of the problems is a lack life and when they show some life they do play better. In a nutshell: it's not just a talent problem it's a motivation problem as well. Good coaching would make a difference.

How about Ron Oester?

From yesterday's '2008 Opening Day thread':

".....if they use the manager's spot as a training ground for Rick Sweet or Ron Oester types on a 2 year contract for little money then I think it will be a very depressing year in '08."

I'm a little worried that if we're thinking about Oester someone in the front office is too....only they might be serious!
