In 1957 and 1972 the Reds face a couple of pitchers that also played pro basketball. Gene Conley and Ron Reed. Conley played longer in the pros than Reed I believe. Reed had just a short stint in the ABA.

I think there will be more questions as to why they didn't bring up Votto and Bruce at the end of a lost season. :)
