Is Watson on in a relief appearance? Looks like it was time to quit trying to make him a starter? I was hoping he would stick, but we do need BP arms.

Valaika sure is starting to rake after such a slow start.

Louisville pen trying to be like the big club.

After getting 5 outs Salmon walks back to back guys. Coultlangus comes in and walks one and allows a 2 run single (runs charged to Salmon) and Norfolk scores 2 in the 7th.

Pelland on in the 8th. Allows 2 singles and walk a sac fly and a walk. Game tied at 5 in the top of 8 with the bases loaded and 1 out.

Is Watson officially converted or are they just giving him the Travis Webb treatment?

They are probably trying to keep Watson's innings down. This is most likely the most innings he has pitched, by far.

How about some love for Zach Cozart? I didn't like it when he was picked, you didn't like it when he was picked, no one really liked it when he was picked, but he's hitting .333 w/ 3 BBs, 3 2B, and 2 HR over his last ten games (33 ABs). He seems to have made the adjustment. So far he is 2-3 with another double tonight.

Chattanooga update: tied at 3 after five full innings. Rosales with a double and a triple so far. Dushan Ruzic on in relief of Justin Mallett. They must be fast-tracking Ruzic. Signed out Australia he is 25 and is listed as being 6'8" and 277 pounds. He started out at Sarasota and pitched well. This earned him a promotion to Chattanoogo. In his first 9 innings at Chattanooga he has allowed only 1 hit and 3 walks, while striking out 6. Keep an eye on him.

Im guessing Watson was scheduled to start yesterday or today so they got him in there, thinking the second game may not get in.

On the Cooter front, he lowers his ERA from *.** to 135.00. Nice job Jon.

It seems he took the demotion hard. He will need to pitch better to make it back to Cincinnati. He does not want to become the new Ryan Wagner.

He walked two lefties during the game, which I think is probably why he was sent down in the first place. He does not at this point possess adequate control for a LOOGY.

I have no idea. I was wondering about him, and I'm hoping he isn't pulling a Milton Loo. I think I'm going to PM his brother, although I haven't seen him around either. Hope everything is OK.

Bats 4, Indians 2
Hamilton's hit beats Tribe
Star report
August 11, 2007

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Josh Hamilton appears well on the road to recovery from a sprained right wrist that landed him on a rehabilitation assignment at Triple-A Louisville.
Hamilton's two-run single in the fifth inning Friday night carried the host Bats to a 4-2 win over the Indianapolis Indians. He was 2-for-4 in his fourth game since joining the Bats.
The Tribe (60-58) faces the Toledo Mud Hens (69-51) tonight at Victory Field in the opener of a five-game homestand.
Louisville went in front 1-0 in the first inning when Chris Dickerson scored from third on a double play grounder.
Indianapolis took a 2-1 lead the second on a sacrifice fly by Luis Matos and a wild pitch by Tom Shearn, allowing Yurendell de Caster to score from third.
The Bats tied the score 2-2 in the fourth with an unearned run as a result of fielding errors by shortstop Don Kelly and third baseman Jose Hernandez.
Tribe first baseman Steven Pearce was 2-for-4, raising his average to .375 (15-for-40) in 12 games since being promoted from Double-A Altoona.
"These first two weeks have been real good for me," Pearce said in a news release from the team. "I've been swinging the bat with a lot of confidence. . . . I'm just trying to show everyone that I belong. I think you have to go out there with a swagger, and that's what I'm doing."

Unbelievable stat of the century!

I had to edit this. That didn't even include the two runs he allowed to score that he inherited from Salmon.

So, the 135.00 ERA is deceiving. He pitched more poorly than that.

I love Zach Cozart. When we were doing the mock draft, I saw video of Cozart, and I was just as impressed with his hitting as his glove.
