View Full Version : August 25th Game vs Marlins: Concepcion's Number Retired
Who all is planning on going down for the Saturday game?
I thought I'd start this thread to see if a group would like to meet up prior to (and maybe after) the game.
Concepcion's ceremoney is prior to the game and is scheduled for 6:30 PM. They are also giving out a Concepcion retirement jersey.
I'm going to take my video camera down. I guess, according to MLB, you can't tape "game activity", but I don't think his ceremony would fall under that category. We'll see.

I'm definitely going to be there. I come from a family of Davey Concepcion fans, so there will be about 20-25 of us in the bleachers.

I'll be there. Glad you reminded me of the pregame ceremony time. I can't believe I wasn't calculating that into my arrival time in town. I would have been very upset about driving there and missing it.

I hope to be there... I'm only 22, so I wasn't around to appreciate his greatness, but I'm well aware of what he meant to this franchise, and hopefully I can be there for a great moment in an otherwise dreary season (and including the two spring training games I went to, the Reds are 1-7 in games I've attended. I need to start improving upon that sooner or later...)

I'm sure a lot of people will want to be a part of that day to honor Davey. It'd be nice if the season was going better to make it even more special, but it's great anytime you have a chance to see a legend get honored for all that he accomplished and contributed.
I was looking at the schedule and it looks like the next day is this year's team baseball card set giveaway too, so that might make a good weekend to head down and come away with some cool stuff.

By the way for anyone that is not going to the game FSN is starting their pregame a half hour early that night so they can show Concepcion's retirement ceremony. So they will do their regular pregame at 6 and then show the retirement ceremony at 6:30.
It's about time.
I think they should pull it out of a big dryer during the ceremony.

Only if Davey is actually wearing it. :D
I'll be there!
OK. It looks like those that want to meet before the game will be getting together at Arnies over in Newport.
I'm probably going to try and be there between 4-4:30.
If anyone has any questions, give me a PM.

Thanks, GAC. I plan on being there.
I made this up, and I'm thinking of getting it blown up into a banner.....

GAC....I'm sure Ron Oester and John Vukovich will be very appreciative.
Concepcion might appreciate #13 a bit more ;)

I am thoroughly embarassed. I knew he was #13. Duh!
I can't believe I did that.... well, yes I can. ;)
I can't edit the above, but believe me - I fixed the original.
Could you see the reaction I would have gotten if I had taken that to the game on Saturday?

The Reds will be the first MLB club to retire the number 13.
