The funny thing is...they only scored in four innings. 5 in the fourth, 9 in the sixth, 10 in the 8th, and 6 in the 9th. This from a team who recently struck out 19 times against the Twins.

Check that. Now they've scored 3 TD's and a field goal. Two innings of 9+ runs is impressive. 24-3 in the bottom of the 8th.

Wait, check that again. 26-3. I don't think the Houston Texans could score 26 points against the Baltimore Ravens. Actually, I'm not even sure if they could score 3 against the Ravens.

It's 4-3 Rangers in the 2nd game . . . and they had already set the record for most runs in a DH with their 1st game production.

As someone (I think it was Cinatit) mentioned in the game thread, the 30-3 is like playing MVP 2005 on rookie (easy) mode. It's so true - every other pitch is a meatball right down the middle. I completed one season on rookie mode with my character hitting .617, OPSing around 2.000 with 217 home runs and ~500 RBIs. :D

Anyway, looks like the Os brought their rookie mode pitchers to the game tonight. 30 runs? How embarrassing.

So on Tuesday night, I had to quickly find a pitcher to replace Cole Hamels in my fantasy rotation. I really wanted a Ks guy. Saw that Daniel Cabrera was available in the FA pool, so I added him to my squad.

Then, while watching the Reds game last night, I thought to myself, "hey, I wonder how that O's / Ranger's game is going?" Thought maybe I'd catch lightning in a bottle for a game or two with Cabrera, especially since he was pitching against Texas.

And then, the score scrolled by on the ticker...

I thought it was a character generator operator error. Surely it had to be 3-3 in the ninth, not 30-3. At least 80% of the runs were allowed after Cabrera's departure!

Still, nice pickup arseface.

Not to mention that the 8th and ninth hitters had seven RBI ... each!

My first thought when I saw the score was that it probably got the Rangers about three extra pythag wins.

I couldn't find the answer in Google to "how many runs have the Reds scored in a single game" but I did come up with a site that has many, many Reds records listed. You might want to bookmark it. I think it's that good.

According to the 2003 media guide (all I have right here at hand) the most runs by the Reds in a game was 26 on June 4, 1911 against the Boston Braves.

Terminator is correct . . . the Reds dropped 26 against the Boston Rattlers on June 4, 1911. The Reds won 15-4 the day before and 9-2 the day after in taking 3 of 4. Nice series.

Most runs allowed by Reds? . . . 25 (twice), most recently against Brooklyn Superbas on September 23, 1901. The Reds would lose the next day 16-2. Then, Brooklyn finished off the sweep 9-2. What a great homestand. Earlier in 1901, on June 21st, the Reds lost to the Superbas 21-3 behind Doc Parker who faced 49 batters, allowed 26 hits and was charged with 21 runs. That 71 runs allowed in those 4 games alone!!
