Per John Fay:

E.Z. out, Coutlangus in

Reds sent Elizardo Ramirez back to Louisville and called up Jon Coutlangus. No word on Saturday's starter.

It's Bronson Arroyo, why is that so hard to figure out. Thats why he only threw 80 pitches last night.

Good move though, that lunacy aside.

5 lefties in the pen. That's......something.

Oh yeah we have to count Stanton. I was trying to forget him...

Yeah, but how many are quality lefties?

And it's not good.

And it's not good.it would be fine if more than two of them could actually get people out consistently.

It won't be Arroyo starting Saturday, according to Fay.

But it sounds like a call-up could pitch Saturday. The Reds will keep Bronson Arroyo on his regular rest. He'll pitch Sunday.

"He volunteered to pitch Saturday," Mackanin said.

The Reds decided against it. Arroyo was so tired after six innings and 80 pitches Tuesday that he asked to come of the game.

And from C. Trent:

Bronson Arroyo will start Sunday, with Saturday's starter still up in the air. Keep in mind that Saturday is Sept. 1. Bronson volunteered to pitch on short rest on Saturday, but because he was tired early and it's the last month of the season, Pete said he wanted to kep him on regular rest.

I still don't know how Arroyo was tired after 2 innings and gassed after 6 (80 pitches).

What is he doing? That seems odd...

It was probably pretty damn hot on the field

2 years of Narron abuse catching up to him.

Arroyo's arm can't take it.

I'm a fan of Coutlangus up and Ramirez down. Ramirez still isn't ready for the MLB level, if ever.

Hey, sometimes you just have one of those days.

These guys aren't machines.

It's very rare that any pitcher has everything working at the same time. You figure out what you've got in the bullpen and make adjustments every time out there. And sometimes your bullpen sessions are completely different when you get in the game.

Happens to athletes in every sport.

Probably. Bad timing is all

That's what I was thinking too. I could see Krivsky doing a move like that similar to picking up Sun Woo Kim last year.

I was wondering what night he was going to go out on his old town. Perhaps it was before he pitched.

Tomko was DFA on 8/24. His 10 days won't be up by Saturday so he can't be picked-up as a free agent. A Waiver claim would obligate the Reds for the $1 Million option buyout in 2008. That leaves only a trade with LA sending money as an option for acquisition. LA sends money, they'll want a decent player IMO.

Gotta love Arroyo's enthusiasm. That's a team player right there. I am glad that the Reds decided against it, though.

I'm lalte on this, but it was nearly 100 degrees when he pitched and very humid. That will take it right out of you.

EZ can come back up due to it being 9/1 can't he?

I think he still has to wait the 10 days, or wait for an injury.

Isn't that null with a September callup? I'm actually not 100% sure.

But why do we want Ramirez back up on the big club?

What exactly has he proved over the past 3 seasons that warrant him spending significant time on the MLB roster?

I'd rather let some of the kids with brighter futures a chance to get their feet wet, than to give Ramirez the ball.

I think he can come back since it is Sept 1...not 100% sure but I think I read that. Do I want him? Not really but tell me someone in AAA that you would rather have. I think Homer is done for the season so I lean toward Mike Stanton. :D JK
