Louisville, Chattanooga, and Dayton finish their regular seasons up today. Sarasota finished up yesterday. Sarasota begins the playoffs tomorrow while Dayton starts on Wednesday. Chattanooga narrowly missed the playoffs as did Louisville. And Billings still has five games remaining , though they also missed out on the playoffs.

Louisville and Chattanooga play at 1:05 today and Dayton plays at 2:00.

Then why not go ahead and call up Votto yesterday if they weren't going to start him today?

Joey Votto is on the field today.... coaching first base.

Johnny Cueto with a 1-2-3 first inning.

Since Chattanooga isn't going to the playoffs I would probably limit Cueto's pitch count today.

Cueto with 5 strikeouts through 4 innings. No runs. Not sure on hits or walks, as I have been trying to take care of some other stuff while listening to the game.

Cueto: 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 7 K

Two runs scored on a sac fly. Had to be a boneheaded defensive mistake of some sort to allow a second run to score.

I hope they pull him now. No need to throw him out there in a meaningless game.

Louisville goes up 8-2. Ramon Ramirez is now in to relieve Elizardo Ramirez.
Dickerson is 3-4.

Johnny Cueto's day and season is done after those brilliant seven innings today.

Here are what Cueto's final stats looked like:

161. IP, 146 H, 11 HR, 34 BB, 170 K, 1.12 WHIP, 3.07 ERA

9.5 K/9
1.90 BB/9

Ramon Ramirez has thrived since being moved to the bullpen. He's yet to allow a run in 13 innings with Louisville while striking out 14.

He doesn't get mentioned much in these discussions, but I'd imagine Buck Coats gets called up. It would be odd to acquire him this late in the season and then not see what he has.

Bet he's got more than Jason Ellison (most do).

Going to be difficult for guys like Dickerson and Coats (both lefties) to see playing time in the outfield.

I think it will be easier to get a guy like Votto playing time because Hatteberg isn't the super-star type players like Griffey and Dunn are.

I was at the Lookouts game today. Cueto looked awesome. He really shouldn't have given up any runs because one hit that loaded the bases should have been an easy catch for the right fielder. The sac fly that scored 2 was really odd. The bases were loaded and the ball was hit really hard to CF. The CF ran and kind of half dove for it and hit the ground. He got up like he had missed it and really spent a couple of seconds not reacting to the play. Two runs scored but I for the life of me don't know what he was doing. He seriously acted like he missed the ball. Anyway Cueto looked like he was toying with the hitters most of the game. He dominated. I saw several pitches hit 96. 92-96 was were he stayed at. Saw some offspead stuff but very very rarely. One batter kept fouling off fastballs and my wife even said if he threw him a change it would be over. Well he never threw a change...just fastball after fastball. Might try to post some pics later. Any questions?

He probably starts in Sarasota and if he performs he gets a promotion mid season to Chattanooga.

According to the DDN this morning, Waring joined the Dragons in the middle of the game yesterday. He'll see additional playing time in the playoffs, if the Dragons can actually manage to string together some wins. They've looked pretty horrid lately. The hitting has been decent, but the pitching has been pretty crappy for the most part.

Thanks, pjr, and yes, I have a question. What did you think of the Lookouts leadoff hitter, the little guy who homered and doubled?

He looked good. I wouldn't say that he stood out in a major way or anything. I will say that I noticed him and Caonabo Cosme. Cosme because of his name....that is really odd... I thought Henry really seemed to hustle (good in Cincy right) and he did hit the ball well yesterday. I think but I am not sure on this (it could have been someone else) but I believe Henry was the one that lost his temper a couple of times (threw his helmet and other things on two occassions). It might not have been him but it was certainly someone who batted right before or right after him. My wife didn't like that. I will say whoever it was acted a little immature. Again please don't quote me on that one because I am not 100% sure.

Rosales impressed me with his defense. He made some nice plays. (He might not be known for his defense...I have no idea...but he looked good yesterday)
