View Full Version : Reds As Spoilers

I've been reading alot over the last week or so how, since the Reds are out of it, they, as well as the Pirates, can play the role of spoilers.

My question is "For Who"?

They just swept the Cards and hurt their chances bad. Of the two teams vying for the division (Brewers and Cubs), they have 3 games left with the Brewers and 6 left with the Cubs.

My point is that by knocking out or hurting one team, they are really just helping the other guys.

So of the three teams above us - whose season or title hopes do you want to see the Reds spoil? Cards, Brewers, Cubs?

Cardinals AND Cubs. I want the Brewers to win the division.

I wish they would spoil everyone else's 2008 draft.

I want them to win all the remaining games with the Cubs and the Brewers - let them make their own fate. I know it's a pipe dream, but you wish for what you want.

Heck, lets just win 'em all.....

I'd kinda like to see the Cardinals and their smug fans get knocked down a peg or three, so I'm quite happy to see their season die in Cincinnati this year.

The Cubs are the Cubs -- they'll screw things up just fine without Cincinnati's help.

I hate the Cubs and the Cardinals are a good rival...I want the Brewers to win...so, I say WIN EM ALL.

I wish we could be spoiled every once in a while.

Spoil the Cubs and the Cards (which I think they've done). So, spoil the Cubs.

I'm rooting for the Brewers.

Spoil the Cards for sure. If we could somehow eek into 3rd at the end of the season, I'd be thrilled.

If we could somehow spoil it for the Cubs, it would be icing on the cake IMO.

Still a hideous season, and I wouldn't consider 3rd place & spoiling Cards/Cubs sucess on nearly any level, but it would take some of the sting of the season away.

I'd love to be the team that takes the Cubs out.

Maybe we could get Edskins goat, uh, dog to root for them.

I hope they knock out the Cubs. I've developed quite the case of goo about those Cubbies, mostly due to their fans.

Last 3 games of the season are against the Cubs @GABP. Reds fans are really going to have to show up to avoid all that Wrigley South crap.

I saw some video clips on YouTube of Cubs fans in Milwukee. Looks like some serious dislike.

It seems the concensus opinion is for the Cubs. I have to agree. I can't stand the Cubs, and I agree with Roy - everytime I have gone down to GABP when they play the Cubs, their fans are obnoxious.

I hope it comes down to the last game of the season and the Cubs have to win in order to secure the division, and we beat them in the bottom of the 9th.

Icing on the cake? Lou pulls a groin muscle trying to throw 1B in one of his tirades.

I think I just might have to go down to that game. ;)

I'm rooting for the Brewers. Has any team represented both leagues in the World Series?

Hard to root against the Brewers, but there is that whole avenging 1999 thing.

I blame that more on the Reds falling apart.

I was at that game, but I don't remember the details. Didn't they lose by one run or a score of 0-1? If I'm correct, I don't really call that falling apart.

If I'm wrong, it's because I'm old and have a lousy memory.

No 0-1 scores, a 4-3 loss in 10 innings in Milwaukee though, but the 99 Reds lost 4 of their last 5 games, winning just one would have gotten them in the playoffs, IMO that's falling apart.

I hate the Cards and the Cubs and therefore, am "rooting" for the Brewers by default.

Then, I remember the final series of the 1999 season when Milwaukee broke our hearts. I still say Marquis Grissom better never find himself in a dark alley with me--- that SOB made that amazing catch on Taubensee's fly ball during that Friday night game...........

ahh, there I go again.

That's why I hate being a "spoiler"-- because unless you can spoil it for everyone, it's pretty unsatisfying.

Shearn over Sheets when the Brewers desperately need to win the game is the reason baseball is so fun. Those things makes no sense on paper but that's why they play the games...
