View Full Version : May the worst team lose... ND and Michigan

I it would be fun to get a little thread going on the pillow fight in Ann Arbor later today. What are your predictions?

My prediction: both teams will simultaneously forfeit the game with :30 left in the fourth quarter. Knowing the importance of playing for draft picks, both ND and Michigan want to keep their perfect records alive. :p:

Michigan 24 ND 6

Now my OSU-Washington predicton?

Washington 28 OSU 17

Today is goig to be MIchigan's coming out party. They're much better than they've played the last couple of weeks (although, they're still not a great team). Notre Dame's style is a good match for Michigan's style. I think people are going to see why Ryan Mallet was the #2 rated QB coming out of high school last year and people are gonig to be calling for him to be the starter the rest of the year.

I agree with GAC on OSU. I think they lose today to UW while only scoring 10 points.

Michigan wins easily. OSU wins by 10.

Wisconsin is not the #7 team in the country. They barely beat UNLV and they're struggling in the second quarter against The Citadel.

OSU will win a close one.

Citadel and Wiscy tied at 21 with 59 seconds left in the second quarter.

The Badgers have scored 24 unanswered points in the second half with over 9 minutes to play in the 4th. That must have been some halftime speech they got!

The MAC is representing itself well today. Ohio and VA Tech are tied at halftime. Akron trails Indiana by a field goal with 7 to play in the 4th quarter.

Miami is the exception, trailing UC by over 3 touchdowns early in the 4th.

I agree with Krono. I think it's a tossup which team will prevail.

I'd normally pick the home team, but home field didn't prove to be much of an advantage the last few times there was a game there. ;)

I'll go with the Buckeyes to win a tight one in Washington, too.

Ugly first quarter for Washington.

Second and two at the OSU 30, and they try two horrible pass calls. Then they force OSU to punt but the guy runs into the kicker and gives OSU a first down. And now a WASH player drops an easy interception. It's easy to see why they have sucked these past few years.

OnBaseMachine
09-15-2007, 05:20 PM
Blatant pass interference against OSU is not called. Now UW has to punt. Football refs suck. They always give the higher ranked teams the calls.

OnBaseMachine
09-15-2007, 05:24 PM
Wow. OSU QB fumbles, UW recovers for a TD and the refs call it incomplete. Replays shows it was clearly a fumble.

OnBaseMachine
09-15-2007, 05:30 PM
And now UW fire an INT inside the OSU 5. Like I said earlier, UW is just not ready to beat a top ten team. They aren't getting any help at all from the refs but they are also playing terrible.

GAC
09-15-2007, 05:31 PM
OSU's Dino just makes a nice play to pick off the QB forward pitch and kill the Huskie's drive.

And now UW's WR drops a huge first down forcing them to punt and give OSU the ball inside the UW 45. I see OSU breaking this game open shortly.

No one has said they weren't. Just that those calls aren't going to cost anyone the game. Ref's calls may effect the true outcome of a game 5 times a year total.

Only OSU fans could say those weren't bad calls.

OSU could very well be leading by more if they weren't shooting themselves in the foot with key penalties in crucial situations..... like when they were down on the Huskie's 2 yd line?

The refs aren't costing the Huskies this game IF they end up losing it.

Only a PAC-10 fan would say that. ;)

GAC
09-15-2007, 06:50 PM
Hey! I picked Washington to win this game. Thank God I'm not a betting man.

OSU looked very mediocre in their first two games against inferior, smaller schools (Youngstown ST and Akron). But Tressel won't run up the score against intra-state schools either.

And maybe, against those schools, he didn't want to show his "hand" because he knew he had a team like the Huskies coming up, and he respects the Huskies?

Because I believe that the PAC-10 has the superior division this year when compared to the Big Ten.

RedFanAlways1966
09-15-2007, 06:50 PM
3rd-and-2... OSU runs up the gut and gets stopped for no gain. Geez, make a better call. I hope the D-coordinator doesn't have the same brain cramp and decide to go into the prevent.

That "missed" pass int call wasn't blatant and could have gone either way. Even the anouncers said that when they watched the replay. And it when it occurred the Huskies had the ball deep inside their own territory, so there was no guarantee they were gonna take it down and score. Not the way OSU's "D"is playing.

OnBaseMachine
09-15-2007, 06:53 PM
Florida appeared to be on their way to putting the game away against Tennessee. Up 28-13 and they had the ball deep in Tenn territory, but Tebow threw an INT returned 95 yards for a TD and now the score is 28-20 Florida.

By the way, how come ESPN/ABC didn't switch the games around? Or did they think a game between two scrubs was a better game?

When the schedule was made, how were they to know that ND and/or Michigan would be in the position that they are? Michigan came into the season with NC considerations by most experts.

And you also have those two schools name recognition and the fact they both draw national attention.
