View Full Version : 2008 Schedule?

Does anyone know when next season's schedule will come out? It always comes out before the end of the season so you'd think it'd be soon.

I just hope we don't play the Cubs again on Opening Day. I'm getting tired of playing them first so much.

I'd like to start with a team from out west, been awhile since we did that

According to a source familiar with the first draft of next season’s schedule, Houston and Cincinnati are in line to be the two sites the Red Sox [team stats]will be visiting in the interleague portion of their 2008 campaign.

That's the scuttlebutt. Of course anything's possible including playing them here and not playing them at all. :dunno:

There are 6 teams in the NL Central and 5 Teams in the AL East. Plus you will always have Cleveland in the rotation.

Someone is going to get left out. I'd personally rather play Baltimore.

According to the first article the Reds will open with D-Backs in 2008. The second article says the Yankees are tentatively scheduled to play the Reds at home. And the third article states that the Red Sox will be coming to Cincy in 2008. I got all these articles from dbsforums.com.

How do the Padres fit in an interleague with the Reds, Astros, & Pirates?

I'm not one to cry "it isn't fair" at every little thing. But multipule years of lengthy road trips is a big drag. I guess someone has to do them, but you would think in the age of super-computers and Sudoku they'd figure out a more equitable schedule.

Sounds like a plan for me too. I was going to try to get up to the Bronx sometime next season anyway to see Yankee Stadium, but if the Reds are heading up there then it'll make the decision fairly easy on when to go.

Red Sox highlight of 2008 home schedule
By Kyle Nagel / Staff Writer

CINCINNATI Highlights and observations of the Cincinnati Reds' 2008 home schedule, which they released Wednesday:

Boston comes to town. The Red Sox will visit Great American Ball Park from June 13-15, a Friday through Sunday series. The Reds played at Boston's Fenway Park in June 2005, so this is the return trip. The series should draw crowds and media like the New York Yankees' visit in 2003.

Opening Day ... not the Cubs. For the first time since 2005, the Reds will begin their season against someone other than their NL Central rival, this time the Arizona Diamondbacks. As is custom, the Reds will play their opener (March 31), and then have an off day before continuing the series.

Traveling early. In April, the Reds will have two stretches of 10 days between home games (the second goes into May). However, Cincinnati won't be faced with as many 10-game road trips they made this season.

Second-half surge? Following the All-Star break, the Reds won't have to leave Cincinnati for 18 of the next 25 days, including home series against the Mets, Padres, Rockies, Brewers and Astros.

Indians in May. There will be the usual weekend home series against the Cleveland Indians, this time May 16-18.

Down the stretch. Thinking playoffs? The Reds have 12 home games in September against divisional colleagues Pittsburgh, Chicago, St. Louis and Milwaukee. But, they'll close on the road.

the Yankees schedule is always late to be released. You have to cull it together from other teams' schedules until December or January usually.

Here's what I have so far:
April 8-10 @ Kansas City
April 22-24 @ Chicago

May 2-4 v. Seattle
May 9-11 @ Detroit
May 23-25 v. Seattle

June 13-15 @ Houston

July 11-13 @ Toronto

August 4-7 @ Texas
August 19-21 @ Toronto

June 10-12 vs. St. Louis

IIRC, those May interleague games are one set of the Indians series. We played in Cleveland this past May, and then the Indians came to Cincy in June. We also played all four AL West interleague series back-to-back-to-back-to-back in mid/late June. This is why I'm thinking the Yankees series is going to be either before or after the Toronto series. It just makes too much sense to tag the road Yankees series either before or after the road Blue Jays series.

Of course, I could be wrong though. ;)

2008 schedule

Got my Reds postseason media guide in the mail today with Brandon Phillips on the cover. But the back cover was more interesting -- the entire Reds schedule.

The home schedule had been released, but the road games had not.

Well, first off is the biggie -- Yankee Stadium. June 20-22. That is the first part of a road trip that then goes to Toronto on 24-26 and then Cleveland from June 27-29.

The WTF roadtrip of the year begins April 25 in San Francsico, with three games with the Giants followed by a game on that Monday, April 28, in St. Louis for three games. The Reds get an off day on May 1 before three games in Atlanta.

That's followed by three home games against the Cubs an off day and three at New York, before coming back home.

Anyway, here's the road trips:
Road trip 1: April 8-10 @ Milwaukee, April 11-13 @ Pittsburgh, April 15-17 @ Chicago
Road trip 2: April 25-27 @ S.F., April 28-30 @ StL, May 2-4 @ Atl
Road trip 3: May 9-11 @ NYM (last trip to Shea!)
Road trip 4: May 19-21 @ LA, May 22-25 @ SD
Road trip 5: June 2-5 @ Phil., June 6-9 @ Fla.
Road trip 6: June 20-22 @ NYY, June 24-26 @ Toronto, June 27-29 @ Cleveland
Road trip 7: July 8-19 @ ChC, July 11-13@ Mil.
Road trip 8: July 28-30 @ Hou, Aug. 1-3 @ Wash (and their new stadium that looks a lot like GABP)
Road trip 9: Aug 12-14 @ Pit.
Road trip 10: Aug. 19-21 @ ChC, Aug. 22-24 @ Col., Aug 26-28 @ Hou.
Road trip 11: Sept. 8-10 @ Mil., Sept. 12-14 @ Ari.
Road trip 12: Sept. 23-25 @ Hou., Sept. 26-29 @ StL
