The Indians have to have some of the peskiest hitters in baseball. They have been very good at working the count, waiting for their pitches, and making the pitcher work.
The two runs are pretty important - but making Wong throw almost 25 pitches in the first inning could also turn out to be important.

Yankees leave 2 on in the first as Rodriguez strikes out and Lofton makes a sliding catch to end the inning.

Ball hit the bat of Shopek (sp?) - very good acting job.

EDIT - may have hit him in the hand.

They are calling it a HBP. Bases loaded with no outs.

Looks like it did hit his hand before hitting the bat on that slow mo replay.

I believe you are right - and it did not sound like it hit a bat in the replays. That has to hurt.

Very short outing by Wong - Torre not taking chances at all.

3-0 Indians on a DP but that is huge DP when the Indians had a chance for a huge inning.

Cabrera singles in a run. Another 2 out hit for the Indians. 4-0 Indians.

Yankees score a run on Jeter's infield hit but leave the bases loaded. 4-1 Indians after 2.

I'd really like to watch this entire game, but at its current pace it'll maybe get over with by around 1am. I love playoff baseball, but I don't love the alarm going off before 6am tomorrow morning. This game's seriously at around a 6+ hour pace right now.

It's enough to make you miss the Angels already.

Eric Wedge sounds like a guy who you just kicked his dog across the room.

Torre went with the guy with 3 days rest which seldom works. Wedge resisted when almost everyone said it was crazy to start Byrd against the Yanks. Very nice call from Wedge.

Indians get a big DP to end that Yankees rally. 6-2 Indians after 6.

Shoppach with another long double. Showing some slugging against rhp. This is the guy I want the Reds to target for catcher if possible.

Looking forward, I'm worried about Borowski. He gave up 5,6 runs in a blown save this season against NY. Would prefer Betancourt but I know Wedge will go with his man all year.

Jeter, Abreu, and A-Rod due up in the 9th. Gulp.

Borowski warming up and they say he is coming in. Why??? Why?? Why?

A long homer by Abreu. Now 6-4. It will be a miracle if Borowski gets through this inning.

Indians win as Posada just misses a homer then strikes out. ALCS is set: Cleveland vs. Boston

It was nerve racking but Wedge is the man. They will need Byrd, Shoppach and Borowski in a 7 game series against the sox so it was a tremendous call.

A lot of posters here called the Indians as winners in this series which impressed me before and now after the fact. Good call.

Well, my Game 5 tickets are worthless, but I'm happy for the Indians. Maybe I'll get lucky and get a shot at WS tickets.
