Team to sell its own advertising

The Cincinnati Reds and 700 WLW Radio have agreed to terms on a 5-year contract extension through the 2012 season. The previous contract expired after the 2007 campaign.

WLW Radio has been the club's radio rightsholder since 1969. The Reds Radio Network is one of the largest in professional sports, with 46 affiliates in 6 states, and each season broadcasts a minimum of 18 spring training games and all 162 regular season games.

That's good news! I like having the Reds on WLW. Their signal strength is strong (50,000 watts) and tons of people can hear Marty, Thom and Jeff over the air, not to mention the internet.

I can not imagine the Reds not on WLW, I doubt that there was much of reality to them changing stations. I am more excited about the added advertising revenue that can be generated now. For a team not to be able to sell its own advertising for their broadcasts was not the best idea in the world. Hopefully the extra money being brought in will help in luring players, hopefully some arms, to Cincy

You can not listen to WLW on the internet for reds games.

You can listen to the feed from WLW on line through other radio web casts that don't get blocked. I get them about 75% of the time.
