The Reds are actually mentioned in a few of those.

I'd love to see us do something with the Orioles or A's. O's have outfield needs and we have players to trade there.

I'd trade alot for Blanton and Haren. I'd give up Hamilton, Bailey, Cueto, Bray, and a few others, etc...........we'd have 4 legit starters and be very tough to beat.

Are you counting Belisle as a legitimate starter? I might be willing to give up Cueto or Bailey, but not both. As for Willis, I read that he is off the trading block.

I dont really trust willis as a #2 althought if he was our 4 I would be happy.

I wouldn't mind vying for Blanton, though we would likely have to give up far too much. Bedard IMO would be too expensive, especially given his injury history.

Overrated and overpriced. Say no to Willis.

As much as it would pain me to get rid of our young guys if it meant a WS run it might be worth it. :(

Willis might be the most overrated pitcher in MLB...

wasn't he in the bullpen?

Also: Does Willis being a good pitcher in 2003 mean he can't be overrated now?

he may be overrated now, but the point is that he has the potential and has proven it in flashes of his career.

Fair enough, I'll give you that. I just personally don't buy it. But hey, you never know, Jose Lima might get back into form too...

Personally I don't think you can use Willis's 2003 WS in any argument. He pitched only 3.2 inning of relief, no runs scored and striking out 3.
I do think he is overrated, but with that comes availability. The Reds need anyone that would prove too be a better option than Belisle, Shern, Lizzy and Livingston.
Keeping prospects Bruce, Cuerto and Bailey should be the focal point. So one needs to look for pitchers in trade that don't require any of those names. Willis, Prior, Snell, Harden are some names we are left with. However I would give up a Cuerto + for a Bedard or Haren.

Willis had a bad year last year. I think he would get blasted at GABP.

I think Blanton might be the way to go if we're talking to the A's. And he might not cost as much as some think.

He's got a career record of 42-34 with a 4.11 ERA and has never struck out more than 140 batters in a season. That’s hardly a pitcher I would break the bank for but he would be a real good #3 for a team like the Reds and could come at a reasonable price.

Harden might also come cheap because of his injury history but the Reds probably shouldn’t take a chance on him.

Haran is probably out of reach unless the Reds are willing to give up some major prospects and money to get him long term.

Blanton reminds me of the old Harang. Solid pitcher who has potential to be a No. 1 pitcher and gets no respect for his accomplishments.

Blanton is very consistent, and honestly i think thats what we need more than anything. With our offense we can win games as long as our starters can keep us in games.

I don't think Blanton has Harang's stuff but he has terrific control
