Also out there is the non-roster invitees to camp: pitchers Jon Adkins, Johnny Cueto, Justin Lehr, Matt Maloney and Tom Shearn. Catchers Alvin Colina and Chris Kroski. And some guy named Jay Bruce.

Who's this Bruce guy? Do we know anything about him?

The other guys I've heard of.... :D

I love Shearn (not as a pitcher, but his story). I'll be rooting hard for him to do well.

But hopefully, we pick up a #3 Sp, and Cueto makes it in the 'pen...

Jon Adkins from "Out Wayne," WV. I like Adkins. Always had a good arm. Watched him in high school and coached against a couple of his teams in the summer. His dad used to post on Redszone. Good Luck, Jon!

I read on Doug's website (plus they are now listed on the Reds website under NRI's) that RHP Josh Roenicke and INF Adam Rosales have been invited to Spring Training as NRI's. Roenicke has a decent chance of making the team out of ST IMO. If not out of ST, he'll definitely be up sometime during the summer. He has a chance to be a very good major league reliever.

Also note the #32 beside the name of Jay Bruce. It looks like that will be his future number with the Reds. IIRC he also wore that in the minors. Looks like I'll be purchasing a new jersey before long.

For the first part of his minor league career he was wearing 32 or 23 at each stop. I would bet on 32 being a solid bet for his.

Jim Coombs doesn't need an invitation.

He just shows up whenever he wants. Then he leaves the same way.
