Detroit is reportedly willing to flip Willis if someone takes Pudge's salary off their hands.

Pudge could add some O in the catcher's spot and we already know that the Reds really want D-train.

Would you pursue a trade w/ Detroit?

for those 2? No. Willis will get crushed in GABP and Pudge makes a fortune. It would be the end of our offseason.

If Detroit is really trying to just dump salary and wouldn't demand a top prospect in return I'd do it. Ross/Lecure/Maloney for Willis and Pudge would work for me but I doubt Detroit would do that. Willis has a chance to be pretty good in Detroit with that big park in my opinion.

I think they would be trading Willis as if he was alone, but then just saying, we'll give you Pudge for free.

How many years does Pudge have left on his contract? 13 mill is alot for a catcher but he is an upgrade over Ross especially offensively and maybe if we are in pennant race Willis will step his game up and be the pitcher he was from 2003-2006. I know he is a professional but I'd imagine it was hard for him to "get up" for all those meaningless Marlins games last year.

This is Pudge's last contract season, with the 2008 option picked up.

Ross: .203/.271/.399
.410 CS %
Pudge: .281/.294/.421
.309 CS %

Not much of an upgrade for a catcher that will be 37 next year...
Sorry guys I live in Detroit and will have to expose the fact that Pudge is not that great of a defensive catcher either...
