Who ya got? Is this the least interested people have ever been in the Shootout (at least since Tony Yates was UC's head coach)?

I assume the Vegas line will open somewhere around 17 or 18.

The school that will go unnamed should roll over UC by 20 points. And that means absolutely nothing in the Crosstown Shootout.

It seems like this game ends in an upset more often than not.

X by 20. Of course, I thought the same thing would happen last year too...

UC was at home last year, and strange things DO happen in the series. But this UC team is the worst team to play a Crosstown Shootout game since sometime in the 80s. It would be a miracle if the game is ever single-digits in the second half.

Strange things do happen in the Crosstown Shootout. I think UC should start Vaughn, Warren, Davis, Wilks, and McClain and press for 40 minutes. Pull out all the stops.

Nobody cares about the Crosstown blowout anymore, kinda sad.

I'm glad what is happening is happening. It's not going to change because of Yancy Gates either. He's lazy, lazy, and did I mention lazy? UC isn't a program that can win without a truly great coach. It's just too hard to recruit and sustain in Clifton and now being in the Big East. Say what you want about Hugs but he was a brilliant motivator and developed talent. He also knew how to get the best out of every player on his team that listened. Also he would take away whatever the opposing team did best on offense. He is a brilliant coaching mind.

You're glad? Why? Cronin's on his way to bringing in the level of talent needed to compete in the next 2-3 years, but you have to question if he is capable of coaching well enough.

From what I remember Huggins' didn't do so well when his kids had to make grades and Pitino and Calapari moved into the league either.

Right now I question whether UC can win another game this year. And Cronin needs to let go of poor players like Sikes and Gentry and just put Wilkes, Davis and Mitchell in the game and let them learn on the job. McClain's already getting his min's and should get more too.

Williamson is a big disappointment this year, and Vaughn isn't getting much done either, but needs to play.

Cronin needs to do a better job of coaching and getting his team together though, regardless, they should not be as bad as they are.

Losing Williams killed them, but the Bearcats will get him and 2 other top 50 types onboard next year and will start upping the talent level across the board. I hope then that there is a difference and some scorers step up.

Of course XU will toy with UC as they are obviously going nowhere this year, and are one of the worst D-I basketball teams I've seen in a long, long time at this point.

I also think Thomas should put a bug in Cronin's ear that he needs to do a better job, and put a little more urgency into the situation.

Getting splattered by Illinois State is not acceptable.

However, what should happen usually doesn't in the Shootout.

This year....what should happen probably will.

UC will not win 10 games, but god I want this one. Hopefully, for one night, UC can play together, make some shots and play some D and maybe UC will be there with a chance to win in the end. A UC victory would just be another example of why this rivalry has been so good. I'd imagine UC are 15-20 point dogs.

10 games? 6 would be nice. Looking at the schedule I honestly see 5-6 wins. 10 would be amazing.

This has nothing to do with the Crosstown Shootout, but can anyone please tell me what network is airing the Bearcat Basketball games. I thought it was FOX because I've seen one game there, about three weeks ago, but nothing since.

I can't find them in the listings, and I'm becoming annoyed as I normally watch every game.

Thanks in advance for any info.

If they win 1 more game all year, I want it to be this one.

Fox 19 has most of them...I think CSTV had one lately as well.

Tonight's is on ESPN 2

I notice a lot more ESPN's this year (some on ESPN U and Classic), along with FSN's and CSTVs, and even CinCW...

that's a bit of a bummer...

With just over 4 minutes left in the first half, UC is LEADING Xavier 21-17

UC is playing the most aggressive I've seen all season.

Matt700wlw
12-12-2007, 07:43 PM
Now things are getting a bit chippy....pushing and shoving, Ts on Warren and Burrell...

The "UC SUCKS" chants begin....

Boston Red
12-12-2007, 07:56 PM
If UC is down 4 at the end of THAT half, they're in trouble. Because I can't imagine a 15 minute stretch going more favorably for them in this matchup.

Matt700wlw

I wish they would move this game back to January or February like it used to be. It seems like it got twice the amount of hype that time of year because there really isn't anything else going on and college basketball really doesn't hit the ground until then...

In the meantime... GO X!

It's going down to the last shot, who ever has the ball with 5 seconds left is going to win. I'm a UC fan, but this game shouldn't have been close, X is playing like crap. UC isn't much better, I've never seen so many missed layups in a single game in my life.

Matt700wlw

Do what you got to do....an "ugly" game works to UC's advantage.

They're holding to Xavier to under 40% shooting, and winning the battle of the boards

I'm sure either team will take the "ugly" win.

Here's where X where hold onto it, I think....they've got the experience...

UC's getting rather anxious, and are rushing...and making stupid mistakes. That's part of the growing process.

However, you can't fault UC's effort....I haven't seen them this tough all year. They made X work for it...nobody thought they could even keep it close.

No more Adam H. He played decently, but McClain probably could make a layup. If he can't make a layup, he needs to start dunking everything.

I'm fairly concerned with the injury to Josh Duncan. He was in some obvious pain and it looked to be one of those ACL/MCL type injuries that would put him out for the year which I think would be devastating to the postseason chances of the Musketeers. Hopefully it turns out okay.

And obviously, thoughts and prayers for the full recovery of Gentry from UC...

Felt like so many more...

Part of the problem is, the Cats missed a lot of close range shots and open shots....make some of those, and an upset possibly happens.

But...they didn't....and that's why they've only won 4 games

UC was 14-47 on two point shots, while X was 18-30. That's the difference right there. If UC makes more shots inside, they probably win (they may have missed 5 lay-ups, but they missed 15-20 shots inside 10 feet).

I liked what I saw out of UC last night. By all rights, they should have beaten a ranked team on the road(kinda), but they just couldn't get the lay ups to fall. Rediculous, but the team is still young and picking up the peices so I'm not going to dwell on the layups. That will come, the effort is what you have to look at now and wether they are prepared for the games. It sure looks like the effort was there and they were ready for the game. Both of which are very promising signs for the future.

I'm guessing that may be the biggest effort that we'll see out of UC this year with the possible exception of the West Virginia game.
