I've been enjoying listening to Furman now that I'm living in the Cincy area, but when I got into my car after work today, I find out that the station is no longer on the air. No mention of this on my drive in this morning. What happened?

Their website is now calling the station 96Rock. Their slogan is "Angry in the morning, pissed all day."

From what I was told, it's a weird split format, they're still doing Two Angry Guys in the morning, but the rest of the day is a hard rock format. PureRock 96.5 is the new name.

If I were the Angrys, I'd be polishing my resumes.

I am shocked to hear Andy got the boot--wonder if he will stick in the Tri-State area or try elsewhere. I would listen to Andy a lot on WLW and also listen to him on 96.5 when going home from a day Reds game. Nowhere really for Andy to go radio wise now in Cincy...unless the folks at Clear Channel do an about face and welcome him back. (Wishful thinking)

Caught a little 96.5 last night on my way home, they didn't play a bad song the entire time I was listening. I will be keeping the station on my preset.

I hope they really enjoy their Christmas vacation 'cause I don't think it's a good idea to show your employer that he can get along without you in a time of cut backs. This 2 week break will give them a glimpse of ratings w/o the Angry Guys. My guess is they signed a one year contract starting Nov 1st and that's the only reason they're still there.

I agree. Supertalk certainly had a lot of billboards around town pimping them. Of course they are rather popular and if the format doesn't work it may not be their fault. Sports talk in the morning and rock and roll in the afternoon and evening. Seems like the station is trying to serve two masters. I'm not quite sure where the Angrys will go if this new format fails though.

It doesn't sound bad, I was curious, and can't say I heard a song I didn't like in the short time I put it on....I'm not sure if the Angry's are going to have enough juice to compete with the Dawn Patrol, though.

I would assume the format change is trying to do that, unless in the morning they are still trying to compete with Homer...

Any chance on WLW hiring them if this thing on 96.5 doesn't work out and WLW decides to have that kind of a show in the mornings?

I don't think WLW will go away from the morning format they have now...even when Jim Scott decides to hang it up.

I don't think the Angry's would fit in that format. There's not a lot of time between traffic, weather, and news for them to do what they do. Maybe they could come back to Homer, if it doesn't work out with Cutler, and they'd become available, but that'd be a ways down the road...

Plus, I don't think they'll put sports on WLW against sports on Homer.

Can't say I heard a song that I even recognized. I must not be their target audience.

I know Furman usually gets a bad rap on here, and I've always been one to stick up for him. I got to know him a little bit better on a trip to see the Reds play the Cubs in Chicago back in June, and after spending a few days with him, I think I can honestly say that he's a helluva guy, and a very passionate Reds fan. He helped me out quite a bit with my mentally handicapped friend while we were there.

I could go the rest of my life without hearing Andy Furmans voice and die a very happy man.
