I don't know what number he had in the minors, but Reds.com list his number as 32 under non-roster players invited to spring training.

Isn't 32 Billy Hatcher's number, our first base coach. I'm sure if Bruce wants 32 he'll get it. What number did Billy wear on the 90 World Series Team? I want to say it was 25.

Hatcher was number 22 in the 90 season and he's currently number 22 as a coach.

I remember ol' Billy Werber from the 1940 WS team. He wore #18. He sure was a slick fielder...

Who cares what number he wears as long as its on the back of a Red's jersey. If you're wanting to buy a Jay Bruce jersey and you're afraid of getting the wrong number, wait until they actually put him up on the major league club then buy it...that money really won't burn a hole in your pocket. That is just an old wives tale!:D

One of the hard facts of the game I guess, is that it is a business first. I have a decent colelction of "ex's" jerseys, I for one am not buying anymore till the player retires :)

What about all those people who ran out and bought a Josh Hamilton jersey? That one has to sting.

Smoke, it does suck, as I have one hanging in my closet. This one sux more then usual, as i really liked him as a player, person, story, and he is a hometown boy for me. I am going to continue to follow his career, and hope it is not a following of disgust we gave him up so cheap.

Back to the original topic, Bruce was reportedly spotting a "Bruce, 9" jersey at one of the caravan stops, contrary to the #32 he's been wearing for awhile.

Buy a #32 jersey. If all else fails, you can have the name BROWNING put on the back.

Not expecting any big changes on the Reds front...but when are the 2008 jerseys going to be available on the Reds site/mlb.com?
