We got a phone call just now and it's on the news live, but old St. George church in Clifton, a long time landmark by UC's campus caught on fire tonight. One of the towers has collapsed and it looks like it's a complete loss.

Correction: Fire officials indicate they think they've been able to contain the fire to just the steeples, according to the Enquirer.

Sad news, indeed.
I used to go to church there when I lived on Lyon St.

A few years ago, I was an instructor at the Riley School of Irish Music and the classes were held in that building. I used to love that place. They just don't build churches like that anymore.

I'll say, it's a Hannaford (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Hannaford) building.

I was having dinner at Christy's and Linhart's tonight when we heard about it. We could see the steeple on fire from the front of the restaurant. They actually had to turn the power off in the restaurant for about an hour because of the fire.
