Earlier this week, YouTube pulled the plug on funnyman and media artist Santeri Ojala, whose hilarious and popular "shredding" videos poke fun at the world's great guitar players.

The videos are absolutely hilarious. Steve Vai's facial expressions alone are priceless. A couple of them are a little long, but the laughs keep coming.

The genius of these videos is that the dubbed "playing" follows the guitar players' hands closely enough to be convincing. They probably weren't that hard to make -- you could probably just turn off the original sound and try to play along without bothering to learn the song. Still, the effect is hilarious.

i love these vidstoo. I agree, Vai is the best one, especially if you've seen him play on Leno, or O'Brian. dead on.

it's actually things like this that encourage my idiot savatness in music...

Those are videos are HILARIOUS. The Santana one is a particular favorite of mine.

If it were just about two minutes shorter, it might be my favorite as well. I especially love the jump-cuts to the backup singers.

Great stuff! My top three...

(1) Ozzy and Jake E. Lee
>> The Ozzy clapping is hilarious.
(2) Yngwie Malmsteen and the Japanese ochestra
>> Great how the other instruments are thrown in there. Love the voice overs at the start before the music.
(3) Eddie Van Halen
>> Throwing in the Iron Man riff was classic.

I really like this one, too. Those snotty flamenco guitarists deserved to be taken down a notch.
