per Rotoworld.

Obviously the Nationals shared the same concerns about Patterson's lack of velocity that we did, but he still looked like their probable Opening Day starter and they'll only save about $600,000 by cutting him. They're left with a rotation of Shawn Hill, Jason Bergmann, Tim Redding, Odalis Perez and either Matt Chico or John Lannan. They'll probably need both young lefties initially with Hill likely to open up on the DL. Mar. 20 - 3:21 pm et

Patterson was a solid pitcher a couple years ago. Its surprising Trader Jim couldn't turn him into something, anything.

Worth a roll of the dice? Maybe....

if you're not good enough to make the Nats starting staff then you aren't worth picking up.

at least not with a major league contract.

Must resist urge to pick on TRF ... must ... resist.

Sorry, couldn't do it.

If Bowden released him, he's surely broken beyond all repair.
I'm sure the Nationals would've kept him, if there was even a 1% chance that he could still pitch.

A minor league contract I'd be ok with....see if they can fix him.

Bowden's been with Nats for a year and a half longer than Krivsky's been here, and look at how he's improved the pitching.

He did a wonderful job here, too...

BITE ME. :)

I did say IF he's healthy. I still like their offense, and their pen is better than the Reds pen.

Just opening up the 40 man for more former Reds. Where's John Smiley these days?

Just getting away from the Nationals is a start!

They'll be lucky to not lose 100 games

Bowden quote about that staff:

Whom would you rather have taking the mound every five days, Patterson or (choose one) Matt Chico/John Lannan?

I choose D - None of the Above

Just use OF's off the mound Jim.
