Aw come on, you've gotta think of something more creative than "Puke." Although I guess this is a family site, so you can't call them the Bleeping Bleepers. :D

Duke is looking good early. Could be a long day for Huggs. Duke's on an 18-4 run and already in the bonus and we're not halfway through the half yet.

Alexander's as good as any player in the Big East.

He's good but I think Luke Harangody may have something to say about that.

WMR
03-22-2008, 04:18 PM
Harangody might be more consistent, but when Alexander is "feeling it" there's no one I'd rather have... he can be nearly unguardable at times.

Another foul on WVA. He must have sneezed on the Duke player.

You guys crack me up. There have been touch calls both ways and there have been no calls both ways. But it's Duke. They've called 3 travels and a carry on Duke this game. I haven't seen that many in one game on one team in a long time, but that's over looked. The refs aren't deciding this game.

4th year in a row Duke doesn't make it past the Sweet 16, and two that they went out the first week. Since their Final Four year in 2004, they were a Number 1 seed in 2005 and 2006 and lost to Michigan State and LSU in the Sweet 16 round. Then they got beat by VCU last year in the first, and now this. Seems to be a program that is slowly declining. They've still got a ways to go before they hit my beloved Hoosiers level though.

More stats...from Lance!

#7 West Virginia beats #2 Duke
- That is the first time a Bob Huggins team has ever beaten a better seed in the NCAA tournament.

- He was 0-4 in those situations while at UC

2005: #7 UC lost to #2 UK
2001: #5 UC lost to #1 Stanford
1995: #7 UC lost to #2 UConn
1993: #2 UC lost to #1 North Carolina

- 10 times a Bob Huggins UC team was knocked out of the NCAA tournament by a worse seed. He was 19-10 vs a worse seeded team at UC.

I just tivo'd the last play in slow-mo... he got ALL kinds of the shooter's arm/wrist. Definitely a foul.

Wow that was a blatant foul.

Really? I didn't see any.
Do you have HiDef too and tivo? I was and I didn't see any contact. He got all ball.

Seriously? Shipp pulls the shooters wrist blatantly as he's flying by the A&M guy. He even puts his hands up in the "I didn't do it" pose after he landed.

I saw what Buckeye saw. And yes, I've got HD. It happened exactly as Buckeye described it. The player flew past, pulls on his wrist/forearm, then does the "WHO ME??" pose after he lands.

Doing a "who me" pose should be a foul just because ;)

I'm not going to win an argument on a East Coast bias board. ;)

I went to my first NCAA tournament games in Anaheim today and wow what a couple of games.
I felt really bad for Marquette. They really out played Stanford but just couldn't make that kill shot.

That's how I saw it too. That was a terrible no call.

Yeah it was a bad call but I also saw a ball call that went against UCLA with around two or three minutes left. They all even out unless it's a Duke game.

The officiating in the UCLA game was pretty bad both ways the entire time.

How many times has UCLA been bailed out by questionable calls to end the game this season?

Honestly I only watched UCLA when they played USC this season so I really don't know. IIRC there was a big fuss about the Stanford/UCLA game and the officiating but I didn't get to see it.

I know that UCLA had a couple bad calls go against them in the game, but that doesn't mean it makes it OK that the refs missed this obvious DOUBLE foul when a teams entire season is on the line. The Texas A&M player could have missed both of those free throws, but you can't not call that foul.

This is clearly not a foul. It is clear that the UCLA players are merelytrying to assist the A+M player in putting his elbow and wrist into the correct shooting position. His elbow had been flailing out all night. The UCLA players were correctly commended for trying to teach him the correct shooting form. Now if only they could hae helped him with that awful body position- he should know better than to be so tilted away from the basket.

The camera angle is playing tricks on you. No foul here.
