So has the Cincinnati media gone nuts talking about this already? Good thing it's the first game on Thursday instead of the last game on Friday. I imagine the whole city will be sick of that angle by tipoff.

With the way he played the last three weeks, I'd have to agree.

BTW, Derrick Byers got released by his Euro team the other day. If that kid can't make it in Europe...

I was just giving you grief... I actually saw Shan Foster go from not being projected as a draft pick at all to a mid 2nd round selection... I think he'll get drafted for sure.

He's getting drafted. I don't know how good a pro he'll be but I think he's definitely getting drafted.

WMR
03-24-2008, 05:16 PM
A better question: Will Joe Crawford get drafted? I think he'll make a team the free-agency route if he has to, but I could honestly see him getting drafted after his growth/performance this season. (Never, EVER thought I would be saying that a year ago!!)

Nah. The word on him is out. Strictly a product of his environment.

He's an NBDLer or EuroPro at best.

Absolutely. He's a one trick pony.

I love him as a kid and a player. I'm proud he's going to have the same degree on his wall that I have on mine. But he's not NBA material.

WMR
03-24-2008, 05:22 PM
That performance versus Marquette really showed me something. He literally had 2 players draped across him the entire game... That has got to be one of the premier single game efforts by a player in the tournament to this point.

He'll make a roster, but I don't see him being anything other than a backup/role player, but there's no shame in that. Not everybody can be superstars. If Bogans can have a decent pro career, so can Crawford.

Speaking of Marquette, is Dominic James one of the most over-rated players in recent memory, or is it just me? Maybe it's because he's from Richmond, which is in my backyard, so I hear more about him than the average fan, but come on. The kid is a great athlete, but he can't hit the broadside of a barn. Your point guard shouldn't be shooting 65% from the line.

Yes, exactly like with Donna Smith... of course, at least we got to see her before she spent all of Tubby's first year Minny salary on Big Macs.

Back to the topic at hand...

I would have been fine with him instead of Billy G.

By the way, we now have an answer to the questions WMR and I posed each other last week.

Crean wins in NCAA without DWade: 1
Gillisipie wins in NCAA without Acie Law: 0

I don't see Crawford getting drafted. Right now he isn't even showing up on any boards, not even in a top 100 or the "undrafted" section.

I don't follow the NBA like I did in the 90s (when I followed it as a die-hard), but I still take in a game here and there. I caught part of the Pistons/Wizards game last night soon after the second round NCAA action ended. NBA players are just so incredibly talented, they make it look easy on the court.

Should be a great weekend for college basketball. As an X fan, the game tonight really doesn't sit too well with me. I'm a little nervous and couldn't stand to see Huggins over there on the sideline in the waning moments of a WVU win...

Off to the bar to get as drunk as Huggins in his heyday. I will not drive or blow chunks in my car, though.

Go X!
