I'll take it, given the past few years.

Except they have us losing out on the wild card to the D-backs by 1 game.

I don't see how Houston wins 74 games. I look at that team on paper, and it just stinks out loud.

And only missing the WC by one game. Oooohhhh, pennant races are such fun!!!

If the Reds get 87 wins then they will win the division. But this season really depends on Johnny Cueto and Edison Volquez and later on in the season it could depend on Homer. Harang will be Harang and put up Cy Young Award numbers. Arroyo could win any where between 10-16 games.

87 wins sounds good compared to the reds of recent. I think that we could actually win the WC with 87 wins, but it would be close

More like the Division. 87 wins would likely take the Central and leave the Reds in the Play Off's where we'd do good with our starting rotation against some teams.

I can't say I will take that until I see these young kids perform a little bit more because I have high hopes!

My eyes are on Cueto, Volquez and Bill Bray.

If those guys do what we hope they can, the Cubs will finish in 2nd place!

87 isn't bad. I'd love to have that, seeing as it would put us in a playoff race. I have pretty much forgot what that feels like.

87 wins and a wild card or division title would be outstanding!

SI also says the Reds will finish second in the "AL East." What is it with SI and errors surrounding Cincinnati?

Well hell if they can beat out the Yankees for 2nd place then they can win the division.

That depends on how many times Roy Oswalt starts against Cincinnati....

CUBS IN THE WORLD SERIES??????

How is that possible?

If anyone has XM, channel 175 has a segment on the Reds right now. They are saying the Reds could sneak up on people.

I agree with 87 wins for the Reds, but the Cubs in the world series? No Way!

I think 87 is a little optimistic, I'd say we're more around 80. Not trying to be pessimistic, because 87 is reachable (if cueto and volquez play to their potential) but its not that likely. My predictiion would be 82 wins and 2nd place in the division.

Hey, this is progress. Usually we're in the "not going anywhere" category.

I, as well, think that 87 is a little optimistic, but ya never know.

I guess I'm a minority when I think the Cubs are pretty good?

Does anybody else think that predicting "87" wins is a bit...absurd? Why not 86? or 88?

Did they put the all the rosters into a computer, analyze factors like day/night game; home/away; rotation (a #2 starter going against a #5 starter on June 20th); allowing for injuries, rainouts, promotions, roof open/roof closed???

I can see a range prediction (like 85-95 games), but the exact number thing made me laugh.

Maybe it's just me and I need some coffee this morning...

I am going on record with a prediction of 90 wins. I would have only said 81 wins three weeks ago but i've got a really good feeling about the pitching this year. I think the starters and the bullpen are going to have a really good year; possibly better than 1990.

Baseball America likes the Cubs a whole bunch this year, but I just don't buy it. I personally think they'll, um, "come through" as usual.

Yea, it is nice to finally be noticed. lol, I still think that 09 is the year that we get everything together, and hopefully bailey will be lights out by then too.
