Assuming the accounts are accurate (big assumption)....

All these people should be fired. It makes me feel very comfortable to know that people with such judgment skills are assuring my safety during air travel.

That's a really ugly woman to have a nipple ring.

TSA did her a favor.

"The conduct of TSA was cruel and unnecessary," Allred wrote. "The last time that I checked, a nipple was not a dangerous weapon."

But a weapon, indeed.

But a weapon, indeed.

Could certainly put an eye out, if used properly.

"You could put an eye out with those things!"

But a weapon, indeed.

So's a piece of plastic cutlery.

And a fountain pen.

And a car key.

...where does it end?

We're living in a securitocracy. I should know--my city looks like it's on permanent lockdown.

I agreed with you. Nipples can be quite dangerous in the wrong hands.

I agreed with you. Nipples can be quite dangerous in the wrong hands.

Takes a trained hand to handle, unload them, and prevent accidental discharge.

I had my nipple pierced and flew out of the greater cincy airport to London in March of '06 and they didn't say anything about it. I guess I should consider myself lucky.

Strange story, the passenger should have known to take them out before going through the detector. I mean, it's to be expected now that the airport experience will be a hassle.

As a result of the uproar over this story, the new TSA procedure calls for visual inspection (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/03/31/tsa_cans_pliers/) of the offending jewelry.

You mean federalizing the TSA employees didn't solve all the problems? Shocking.
