Probably my introduction to the excitement of opening day. I listened the Reds in the WS in 1972, but don't remember opening day that year.

My teacher in 1973 was a HUGE baseball and Reds fan. She handed out baseball cards to all the students that day and showed us how to keep score. She even brought a television into the room so we could watch the first few innings of the game. I remember sprinting home between innings so I wouldn't miss much of the action.

That is the ultimate "night and day" lineup - four hall-of-fame sluggers (with Tolan, who had a terrible year in '73 sandwiched in), followed by four not-so-good hitters.
