I had Lite-On LVW-1105 DVD Recorder. I use it mostly for Sporting events but also for some TV shows. I get a ton of use out of it, but after about a 10 months, it stopped working as a DVD player. For about 2 months after that it worked as a DVD Recorder, then it wouldn't work as a DVD recorder unless I was using DVD RW's. That only lasted about 3 weeks and now it won't recognize any dvd you put in it.

My cousin also had a DVD recorder that had a similar fate, but I don't remember which recorder it was. Do any of you guys have one that you get a lot of use out of and have had for a while with no problems? I am looking to buy one here soon to replace the old one that no longer works but was hoping someone could help me out with some suggestions of one that has been working for them.

I bought an external Sony DVD/CD DRX-810UL about 3 years ago, and it has worked fantastic. Never been a bit of trouble with any format.

That is a burner, I am looking for a DVD Recorder, to record stuff off of tv with. I have a DVD burner on 3 different computers in my house that all work fine, I just need a standalone recorder to record stuff from tv.

My brother-in-law and I both have Toshiba's and we're very happy with them

Sorry Doug. Brain fart.

I second what Krono said about Toshiba. I have one and it works fine. I also have a Magnavox that I've never had any trouble with as far as using the various formats. Spent about $225 for it at Walmarts about two years ago.

Here are some other recommendations....
