Especially when you consider who's starting for the big club. A very forgettable day for the organization.

Are they trying to stretch him out with an eye to starting him or is he just in the long relief role?

Bruce's struggle to take a walk in AAA is unsettling. His value has most likely fallen since last winter.

Yeah, his value has clearly dropped because he hasn't walked in his first 23 atbats of the season despite OPSing .962 last season.

There is no doubt Jay Bruce needs to walk more and K less. None.

Now the value dropping thing is a stretch, but the point reamins the same.

OnBaseMachine
04-09-2008, 09:06 PM
I don't think anyone would disagree that he could stand to take a few more walks but to say his value has dropped is quite ridiculous. The guy turned 21 years old last week, he's got plenty of time to further improve.

Bruce will be fine. Actually, he will be terrific. By the summer, he'll be tearing up AAA, if not the NL.

Very exciting starts to the season for Bailey, Frazier, Jordan Smith, Francisco. Valaika seems to have regained his stroke. Waring doing well too. Good to see.

Seriously, is there anything for me to be excited about for my Dragons game in July? Anyone gonna be there?

Cody was drafted in the 12th round of the 2004 draft by the Reds. No clue on the signing bonus. In the 12th I'd suspect not a great deal.

I saw him play in louisville a couple years ago when he was up filling in for some guys who'd been called up. Nice kid.

And yet again Scranton / WB only gets 5 hits. So Homer really wasn't dominating last night as you guys think. Scranton has hit a wall the last 3 games.

Who said he was dominating? It was a clean game which is what we are looking for. No slopfests Homer likes to do at times.

Boo, not even a HR from Waring. But, his value is likely higher than Jay Bruce right now since he has dos BB.

Maybe that wall they've hit is called good pitching.

I watched the game. The hitters weren't always fooled, but they weren't putting wood on the ball too much. 3 baseballs left the infield against Bailey all night on Tuesday against him.

I see a lot of pitchers here with 3, 4, 5 innings. Are the Reds still doing some sort of tandem thing, or perhaps are they just building their strength early on in the season?

I know that in Dayton/Sarasota there have been a few injuries that have put guys that weren't slated to start into starting roles. There have also been two guys leave games early with slight issues already, but nothing major (that we know yet at least).
