C/O Fay

An MRI showed Alex Gonzalez still has fracture in his knee. He can take groundballs but he can't run for 2 to 4 weeks.
It is going to be awhile.

Looks like Eddie has 2-4 weeks to turn the corner.

If he can't run for another 2-4 weeks, it's probably another 4-6 weeks at the earliest for him to return.

I don't see how one has to do with the other. I don't see it at all.

The speculation being that if EE hasn't come around by the time Gonzalez is healthy, Keppinger gets moved over the 3rd and EE goes to the bench or Louisville

So this means we get 4-6 more weeks of Castro?

Speculation? Yes.

Reality? Not likely.

EE will be a part of this team for quite some time, or at least until he becomes too expensive to pay him.

EE is alarge part of our present and our future. He will get every opportunity to prove it.

If he doesn't come around for 2-4 (or 4-6) weeks, then he has to be moved to either the bench or Louisville.

Agreed that he is hopefully a part of the future, but you can only struggle that much for so long without having the bat taken away from you.

I'm still saying he's out for the season.

I'd vote with the senior members of the group.

If A-Gon comes back, it's not until Sarasota '09.

How long is the contract Gonzo signed? Might be the end of him as a Red.

He's got another year on the contract after this one...it was a three year deal, right? am I mistaken?

I guess the Reds are worried that it might hurt ticket sales if they announce Gonzo is out for the season, so they will keep teasing us throughout the season

I know the speculation, but it goes no further than RZ IMO. From all I've seen, he's at 3rd, for better or worse.

This is the perfect year to just run EdE out every day and see if he's able to finally seize the job and play up to his potential. I have a feeling that's what the Reds' FO feels as well. I think EdE is due for arb next year. Now, he's probably not going to get a big payday, but it starts to become problematic when you have enigmatic players starting to make arbitration money.

Let's hope EdE takes advantage of the opportunity and turns himself around.
They've already tried the "tough love" approach and apparently it doesn't work.

Too much excitement for me!

Castro has 108 PAs since last year, and he's given us a .163/.200/.214/.414 batting line in those PAs!

Keep up the great work, Juan!

Presently he can't field and he can't hit.

That makes the future rather dim at third base.

It's really hard to take any General Manager who allows Juan Castro to occupy a spot on his 25-man roster seriously at all.
