Don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge fan. But if Dunn prices himself out of town, he may be a guy to consider giving a cheaper/shorter version of Dunn's deal to, as he is a right handed guy that has OPS'd around .900 for the past few years.

I would like to re-sign Dunn first and foremost, but if that doesn't happen for whatever reason, would you consider giving Burrell 3 for $45-50MM? Just a thought...

if you let Dunn go then the idea needs to be younger and cheaper combined with better defense. Burrell fails on all counts.

or ageI can't see age as a problem. Getting a player in age 29-32 seasons is usually a good thing. Dunn is young for a free agent. If he is smart he has a chance to hit the jackpot twice(2 4 year deals).

Mashers tend not to be great fielders: true. In general this has been borne out time and time again. In the NL, where do most mashers play? LF and 1st base. Why? Presumably because first base doesn't require tremendous speed in order to play it adequately. Why does LF seem to be the other stopping-off point for sluggers?

I'm not sure if this was meant as a retorical question or not.

But the simple answer is that LF requires less skill to play than any of the other postions (other than, perhaps, firstbase).
