Very nice. McCutchen has been pretty good so far this year. I think he is an underrated player right now in prospect circles.

I'm going to the Indy game tonight as well. I went to the Indians game last Tuesday night and they looked good against Pawtucket. McCutheon is very good and defensively, Indy looked great at all infield positions.

I'm jealous. I want to go watch Maloney pitch but just too busy tonight.

Cincinnati Reds Move Two Current Chattanooga Players To Triple-A
posted April 22, 2008

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Cincinnati Reds have announced that infielder Luis Bolivar and right handed pitcher Justin Mallett have been promoted to AAA Louisville. In a conjunctive move, infielder Michael DeJesus and right handed pitcher Michael Hrynio have been assigned to Chattanooga.

The moves were made after pitcher Matt Belisle completed his rehab assignment at Triple-A Louisville, and the Reds promoted veteran infielder Jerry Hairston, Jr. from the Bats. To make room on the Cincinnati roster, infielder Juan Castro was designated for assignment.

Bolivar, who is currently tied for the Southern League lead in hits (22) and runs (13), hit at a .306 clip with three homers and nine RBIs for the Lookouts. He spent the majority of last season in Chattanooga, where he hit .297 in 109 games, but finished the season in Louisville. In 13 games for the Bats, he hit .262.

Mallett began the 2008 season in the Lookouts’ rotation, but after one start, made the transition to bullpen duty. Overall, he posted a 0-1 record with a 4.50 ERA in five games. Last season, he went 3-6 with a 4.73 ERA in 44 games for the Lookouts. On August 31st of last season, he made one start for Louisville, throwing five innings of shutout ball to earn the win in his AAA debut.

DeJesus was promoted from Sarasota, where he hit .273 with two doubles and one triple in 13 games. He spent the entire season in Sarasota and hit .261 with four homers.

Hrynio, who began his professional career as an infielder in the Seattle Mariners organization, signed with the Cincinnati Reds organization as a Minor League free agent. He spent the vast majority of the 2007 season in West Tennessee, where he went 3-1 with a 3.78 ERA and two saves in 20 games out of the bullpen.

Who takes Belisle's spot in the Louisville rotation? Mallett? Why not leave him in the pen if he's better suited there?

no one, they'll go back to 5. it fit well with Belisle in there because they played a double header where Bailey / Shearn threw. then, a week later they had a day off. Homer still threw on normal schedule (4 days off in between), Shearn threw 5 days off in between, and now they're back on schedule. Pettyjohn / Lehr will throw the Wed / Thurs and Homer back to Friday, Shearn Saturday, etc...

Yeah, you don't see that every day. He has walked three batters already too. The last guy he had down 0-2 before four straight balls. Not the greatest control night.

Just got back from the Dayton game. Fantastic start by Montano tonight. 8 IP, 1H, 1ER. He had a no-hitter until 2 outs in the 7th when a batter tripled off the wall and was thrown out at the plate on a perfect relay throw from Zack Cozart. Todd Frazier hit his 6th HR of the year tonight a long homer to left over the left field seats.

Just got back from the Bats game.

Maloney hit 2 guys when he was up 0-2 in the 1st inning. That really stunk.

Without a doubt, the most frustrating AB of the game came in the 1st inning. Van Berschot, for Indy, had pitched 9-10 straight balls to open the game and I think he walked the 1st two batters on 8 pitches. Anyway, Bruce has either a 1-0 or 2-0 count on him and what does he do? He swings at a ball that was going to be ball 2 or 3 and hits a soft pop up to third. Jolbert then GIDP to end the inning.

That AB alone has made me leary of his patience at the plate. Very undisciplined AB in my opinion.

After that 4-for-5 night by Shaun Cumberland, he's now hitting .341/.463/.614 through 44 atbats with a 10 BB/3 K ratio. He was acquired by the Reds last July in the Jorge Cantu deal. I remember Krivsky stating at the time that he had some nice tools...hopefully he's starting to put it together.

I don't think you can really say that though, because in the 7th inning, in a no-hit bid, Bruce took the walk on 5 pitches, even though you could tell he was anxiously awaiting a chance to break up the no-hitter.

He swung at a 1-0 pitch right down the middle and mis hit it. You might say its undisciplined, I disagree completely. He is the best hitter in the minor leagues, had 2 runners on base and got a good pitch. He missed it by just a tad, but it made all the difference. If he swung like a windmill at a slider in the dirt and outside.... thats undisciplined.

since he's hitting so well for us, he must be a lefty. Reds are one-stop shopping for all of your lefty hitting needs.

The pitcher wasn't challenging him. I was sitting right next to the Reds bullpen and Browning was even pissed and yelled "Challenge him!" when it was a 5-0 game and a 3-1 count.

The guy then proceeds to throw the ball in the dirt.

As for his AB in the 1st inning, he swung at a ball that was high. . . just like every other pitch Van Berschot (spelling?) had in the inning. He bailed them out.

With that said, Jay has a cannon of an arm.

I watched the replay of the game on Milb.tv. The pitch wasn't high, at the highest, it was belt high. I think your memory is messing with you a little bit.
