And who goes?

I previously thought Javy would go. Now, with Hairston in the fold, I'm leaning to Hopper being moved.

Views?

Today - Hopper... is my guess.. maybe Fogg if they sign Hoyt Wilhelm or Wilbur Wood.

IIRC, his rehab stint is over today so I would expect something this afternoon. I would think Hopper is likely the odd man out.

Hopper makes the most sense, barring a trade.

It will probably be Hopper but IMO it should be Freel.

Is Hopper out of options??

He has one or two left. He was never on the 40 man until his initial callup in '06, I don't remember if he got sent down during that year after he was first called up.

Now that Jocketty is in charge, my guess is Javy Valentin get's the ole' DFA. I don't see any chance that Jocketty carries three catchers.

I beleive the Reds have been trying to move Valentin for sometime now, without success.

He may be DFA'd, or if the Reds believe that they may be able to move him shortly, they may send Hopper to the minors.

Hopper to DL. Leaves the Reds w/a bench of: 1 spare IF (Freel, who hasn't played SS), 1 spare OF (Patterson/Hariston), and 3 spare C/1B. Walt's first assignment: fix this!
