Good to see EdE batting 4...

TBH, the way Hariston is hitting right now, I kinda like the lineup.

It's not a great thing when your pitcher is OPSing almost as much as your leadoff hitter.

I actually like this line-up... I guess Dusty is going to let Phillips think about his struggles a little bit...

Odd to sit one of our strongest hitting right-handed batters against a lefty though....why not give him the day off tomorrow against a righty, Kevin Correia....

I do like the concept of moving Hairston around the diamond to give the regulars a day off, as long as he is swinging the hot bat.

Has anyone heard any updates on Alex Gonzales? He seems to have fallen off the radar.

What's the over/under on the number of ground balls to the right side for Hairston?

Or when your #8 is OPSing almost as much as your #1/#3 combined ;)

Lets hope Edwin can have a big night and maybe prove to Dusty he is the one who should be batting clean up.

I wonder if Freel is starting because of the brain fart that Patterson had the other day?

Yeah, but it looks to me like Jerry Hairston=the new Ryan Freel.

Could be a showcase job, and IMO, Freel and Hopper's days here are both numbered with the new regime. Freel will be very hard to deal, however. He needs to play a bit, get hot, and then look much more attractive to possible suitors.

Right. And the Reds were supposed to dispatch the doormats known as the Astros, too, right?

I think it wise if the Reds not look past any team, even if that other team is in the midst of a terrible slump. The Reds' squad is still very, very bad.

I'm not being critical, it's just subject to some dramatic swings with only 7 games under his belt.

Last year when the REDS faced the SF Giants for the first time...

* Pete Mackanin's 1st game as manager (see ya, Jerry).
* Chad Moeller had just been DFA'd.

I guess you lost me here. Is it just me, or did BCast say, just the other day, that the Reds simply are not going to lose anymore?

You're absolutely right but it might take them a series or two to really get the delegating going full steam....

Having not read any posts in this thread, why is Keppinger batting 6th and Hairston 2nd?

I keep hoping that The Dusty won't always alternate R/L, but I only remember Dunn and Griffey batting consecutively in a lineup recently.

Dusty has less feel for the nuances of lineup construction than any manager in recent baseball history. With access to virtually the exact same personnel, Petey Mac's offenses scored nearly a full run more per game (0.91) than Dusty's dysfunctional squad has so far this season.

Freel just swung at a ball up at his eyes. The only way to stop any manager from playing him is to trade him. Walt? You there?

The lineup the Reds run out there means nothing at this point. They aren't going to score runs. They lack the ability and offensive talent to do so.

Haha, great night to sit a guy who OPS'd nearly 1.000 versus LHP last year, Dusty. BP does more in 1 PH appearance than the rest of the squad managed all night. What a rube.

Letting Harang start the 8th with 110 pitches was a good move as well.

Dysfunctional. That's all I can say.

Major overhaul offensively.

"oh, they will hit"

Yeah, right. Left hander= kyrptonite. No defense for it.

Heck, to think about it, it matters not what arms goes against them. Cy Young pitches against the Reds and poor Aaron Harang, one of the best in the business, loses again. Base running mistakes, poor plate discipline, and horrible fielding. Yep, this team is so much better than 2007. Wonderful management in the front office and in the field. NOT.

If they want someone small and fast leading off and doing cazy things...you might as well sign Topo Gigio to play CF and lead off.

Was at the game tonight. All I can say is that Dunn and Junior both were slow as molasses out there. Obviously not the greatest night on a number of fronts, but there were at least 2 and possibly three hits that fell in due to the slow-footedness of our corner OF. Stinks to see Harang get the loss.

And Sanchez' curve or slurve or whatever that thing was he struck out a few guys on was just brutal -- all kinds of late movement.

Yeah...getting rid of Junior might boost this team quite a bit IMO. Bruce in place of Junior would be HUGE.

Hell, even Patterson, Dunn, Hairston would help this team out.

Junior's bat still beats out anyone short of possibly Bruce. Patterson, Dunn and Hairston? You REALLY want this offense to stink, don't you? I'm agreeing about Junior's D mind you but it's hyberbole to state those 3 mentioned would make a better all around OF. Hairston isn't an OFer. After seeing him out there? He has to be fast just to reverse himself when he breaks the wrong way.
