I really hope Dayton doesn't get rained out. I am heading up in a little bit and it would suck if I got up there and had no game to watch.

I hope so for your sake Doug. I got a chance to see Montano pitch a few weeks ago while I was in town. I thought he looked pretty good, you'll have to tell me your opinion of him if you don't get rained out.

I actually picked this game to see Mike Moustakas play for the Bee's, but I am kind of glad to get to see Montano pitch. He should be interesting to watch, as I haven't seen him pitch before. With all of the complaining I have done about Frazier still being in Dayton, I won't complain tonight about it.

Daniel Guerrero is one of my deep sleepers. He started really badly but has had a couple good starts in a row. I'll be interested to see how he does tonight.

Valaika needs to be moved immediately. There's no excuse not to do it.

Bruce is in a slump. I ain't worried.

Bruce has to be the disappointment of the minor league season so far. I wonder if the pressure to make the Reds is to much for him. Everybody wants him to hit 350 with 11 walks right now. It simply isn't happening.

I'm not worried about his slump, I am worried that he still isn't walking. The arguement has always been he has mashed minor league pitching so bad that he doesn't need to walk. Well he's not mashing anymore, and he's still not walking. That is a concern.

This season:
27 K
5 BB

Last season:
135 K
47 BB

He was mashing as of a week ago. I would be worried if he swung at bad pitches, but he doesn't. He just hits his pitches. The walks will come eventually.

Was at the Louisville-Richmond game last night and sat behind the Bats dugout.

Bruce's first AB, he went down 1-2 and flew out deep to the CF. 2nd AB, he worked the count, but still flew out. 3rd AB, popped out to the 1st baseman in foul territory. Last AB, (after he buzzed the crowd with a liner just over the dugout), he broke his bat on a dribbler to the 3rd baseman.

Now, the guy going for Richmond (Morton) came into the game sporting a 2.36 ERA. Not big on K's, but definitely had the Bats hitting a lot of grounders. Dickerson, Anderson and Rosales (PH'ing) provided the offense, what little there actually was.

Game ended on a double off the wall in the 9th. The relay throw from Anderson was weak, but Janish still managed to put a good throw to the plate, just a tick short of nailing the runner.

Scott Williamson pitched for the Braves last night. His delivery looks much less complicated than I remember, but the guy couldn't catch a break. He only got two outs in the inning.

From what I've seen, he can work the count. I think it's just that when he gets the count in his favor, he always swings, thinking he's getting something to drive.

Agreed. It seems like he's always getting ahead 3-1, 2-1, 2-1 etc. That's why I'm confident he'll learn to walk more as he matures as a hitter.

What did you think of Montano and the rest of the Dragons pitchers? What kind of pitches does he throw?
