Lecure pitched last night. I believe it is Thompson's turn to go tonight.

If Thompson throws a gem tonight, it's time to start thinking about promoting him to AAA. Valaika and Frazier should have been promoted yesterday.

Agree on Valaika. As for Frazier, he played left field last night which seems like a good spot for him. I can understand holding him at Low A to teach him a new (and hopefully permanent) position.

But I can't understand holding him back to DH him and move him around various positions as the Reds have done. If he's going to be in Low-A, settle on a defensive position for him and, after a few weeks of learning, let him move ahead.

I was trying to go in order of past games since it wasn't on the website.

I've had enough. Bring up Bruce, and play him everyday in CF. They can shift him to RF after Jr. is traded if they want to. But bring him up and fire Brook Jacoby. They must do SOMETHING to jumpstart this offense.

I whole heartedly agree with you for a grocery list of reasons that we have each thought of.

Patience my friend. Even Jay Bruce couldn't jump start this offense.

Patience grasshoppers. Bruce and Bailey may give this team a nice 2nd half lift, but neither are ready yet.

I can't see what else Bruce has to do, he may have to fine tune some things (but there's plenty of big leaguers who need to fine tune some things), but he can do that up here...he doesn't have to prove he can hit, that's all he's been doing....Bailey, I can give you, but wouldn't be opposed to him coming up either. I can see why they may want to wait on him.

The future is now...the present is getting this organization NOWHERE except more of the same crap

Too bad he doesn't hit righthanded. He would have been here already if that were the case.

Didn't he just break out of a long slump? And now suddenly, he's done 'nothing but hit'?? I think we should resist the urge to vacillate whichever way the wind blows like a weathervane and stick to the development plan. I think both players are still learning things where they are currently playing. I think Bruce just rode out his first slump (at least the first long one) and should be allowed to enjoy a little success. Bringing him up now might send him back into a slump...let him rip another week or two. Call me when his OPS approaches 1000 again.
Bailey has a ton of work to do in AAA...I really don't want to see him in the Majors because the team 'needs' him again. The last time was bad enough.
The big league team's 2008 season does not hinge on whether Jay Bruce or Homer Bailey contribute now, so why endanger their futures? This team needs a lot more than another left-handed bat and yet another young pitcher working on his game.

How long was the slump....I don't recall it being a huge deal.

Everybody has their moments.

All in all, he's hitting and hitting well this season.

Right now the die is set for the Reds season. They can get better but they're not getting back in the race. So - I'd do what is best for Jay Bruce right now which is, imo, leave him at AAA for awhile longer. Ditto Bailey. Wait until someone is dealt or dropped so Bruce will play every day. Wait until Homer pitches so well they simply have to bring him up. Rosales is heating up too. By mid summer or so get them all up on the big club and getting reps in prep for next season. Right now there's no rush. With the Reds this bad I'd look to improve and protect the rookies rather than try to push them.

Disagree. It's still too early to tell.
