Daryl Thompson's 3rd inning.

1. Gets a weak infield grounder for out #1.
2. Weak pop up to 3B.
3. Gets behind 2-0 before getting a called strike. Foul ball. Misses to make it full. Outside, walk #2 of the game.
4. Ball 1 inside. Another one inside, 2-0. Another foul ball but this one ends the inning.

Thompson 3ip, 2h, 2bb, 2er, 0K.

Daryl Thompson is on the mound. 2ip, 2h, 1bb, 2er, 0K.

I wonder if those two bad innings will knock him off the pedestal of the #1 ranked prospect.

dougdirt

Haha....

Chattanooga just took the lead. They are up 3-2 and still batting with runners on in the bottom of the third.

Thompson gets his first strikeout of the game.

4ip, 2h, 2bb, 2er, 1K.
Lookouts up 3-2.

dougdirt

Thompson does not have his best stuff today, just gave up a solo HR to a guy with 0 HR on the year. Tie game at 3 in the 5th.

dougdirt
05-07-2008, 12:33 PM
Thompson followed that up by allowing a double to a pinch hitter.

dougdirt
05-07-2008, 12:36 PM
After a sacrafice bunt a sac fly scores the runner. Lookouts trail 4-3 in the 5th.

Thats it, he's toast. Trade him before the rest of the league figures it out. ;)

The broadcast went crazy online and I missed about an inning.... not really sure what happened but the Lookouts are back at the plate.

Benihana
05-07-2008, 12:50 PM
He was due for an off-outing. At least we know now we won't see him in Cincy anytime soon, and that's a good thing.

dougdirt
05-07-2008, 12:53 PM
Chattanooga is up 6-4.... not sure how it happened though.

dougdirt
05-07-2008, 01:13 PM
Cody Strait hit a HR to make it 7-4 Lookouts. Thompson is done, but I don't have his final line.

dougdirt
05-07-2008, 01:17 PM
Well, its now tied at 7

Not a bad line. Nothing amazing, but if he can allow 1 more base runner than ip I will take that all year.

dougdirt
05-07-2008, 01:24 PM
9-7 Lookouts trailing.

HokieRed

Strait is on a tear. Good to see it. My one criticism of the lineup construction down there is that he and Cumberland should be getting 4 ab's every game and/or be on their way to Louisville. Anyway, it's great to see Strait having this success.

dougdirt

Lookouts trail 15-7 now. Justin James had no control.

Cody Strait is looking like a decent prospect and possible candidate for 4th or 5th OF on the big club in 2009.

If his final line is falling back then Thompson has a heckuva future ahead of him. On a night without his best, and with his command off a bit he still manages the game and stays in it. A floor like that leaves some guys looking up from their ceiling.

Louisville has Matt Maloney on the mound and they start about right now.

Sarasota starts at 7 and Rafael Gonzalez makes his third start of the year.

Dayton plays at 7 and the probable pitchers aren't listed yet.

Hey Doug, did we ever get confirmation on the rumor John Fay had about the Reds recieving Blake Johnson from the Royals as the PTBNL for Brad Salmon?

dougdirt
05-07-2008, 06:51 PM
He is still listed as a Royal.... so until it happens, it appears its just a rumor.

PuffyPig
05-07-2008, 08:03 PM
and Thompson falls back.

Thompson is the exact same propsect now as he was yesterday.

One game doesn't change anything, especially one game where he didn't actually pitch that badly.

Did Devin Mesoraco see his shadow and what does the answer mean?

It means he wakes up every morning and he's STILL in the REDS minor league system.

Question of the day:

Did Devin Mesoraco see his shadow and what does the answer mean?
Mesoraco is from Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania home of Punxsutawney Phil, the official groundhog that comes out to see or not see his shadow on groundhogs day.

I'm going to take a total guess and say he did not see his shadow because he got of "winter" with his promotion to Dayton?

I was away and didn't see this posted, but the Chattanooga manager was quoted in the paper as saying two of the runs Thompson allowed were because Szymanski misplayed a flyball. Four runs in six innings is not awful but it should have only been two runs...

Well I guess it's good he's getting a flavor for how the Reds defense behind him will be :(
